Why?
What makes people want to live full or part time in an RV or in a mobile home park, even when some have a perfectly lovely actual home!?

I live (with Mr. Man) part time in a RV park — an older, settled RV park where my parents (RIP) had a spot for almost 50 years along the Colorado River, with huge Oak trees, and some very interesting people.
We have a pool and hot tub, tennis court, mini golf course through the shady oaks, a pavilion, an activity center, laundry room, a welcome center, and a superb staff that handles things around here. We have planned activities, God’s Hour on Sunday evenings lead by one of our “neighbors”, and other activities to occupy many different interests. We also have people who come and go along life’s highway, spending a night or a week, or a month here and then going on their way.
We have people who are “annuals” who pay for their spot by the year, and their spots are off limits to other campers. We can leave and always come back to the same spot and it’s never rented out in your absence. This is our 3rd year to “own” our spot.
The following are among the many reasons we choose this lifestyle ~
Most of us are “young at heart, slightly older other places”, and have worked for a living during our lifetime, or been members of the military, government contractors, or other businesses. I founded and run a charitable foundation and Mr. Man is a retired professional jockey. We are among the generation who worked and saved, worried about our futures way before the time we needed to worry. My heart goes out to the young people in recent generations who haven’t had the opportunities we seemed to have had.
We have a former Pentagon worker, a few retired military men and women, school teachers retired from higher education institutions in other states, and a few younger people who “work from home” in their RVs, and that’s just in the circle we live in!
We pay by the year, and it’s all inclusive other than electricity. Ours runs around $60 per month, and goes up to about double that in the summer. Our rigs go from small camper vans and all the way up to some “million dollar” behemoths that are 45 ft or longer with bunk beds, tubs, and lovely primary bedrooms, dishwashers, residential refrigerator / freezer units, and many other amenities.
We also have an abundance of wildlife on our doorsteps…literally. We have tiny baby deer, young teen deer, Mama deer, and huge Papa deer. It’s lovely to sit and watch them while they go about their business. We have raccoons, squirrels, and lots of birds, especially pairs of cardinals.
We have had a few snakes show up now that it’s hot outside — a few copperheads, and a cotton mouth rattler have been reported. I try to float above the ground when I leave the confines of my rig. Snakes skeeve me out!!

View out of our front door most evenings
We have a comraderie with many people of many backgrounds here. Our privacy is respected, but there is always someone out walking their dog, or stopping by with some treat to share.
It’s a lovely way to meet new people, and learn new things from others, no matter how old we get.
Happy times and sad times, we try to support each other.
