Adnams Chilean Chardonnay

I’m a big fan of Adnam’s beers, but they also source fantastic wines, so big shout-out to their excellent wine buyers.

I’m making my way through a case I bought from their Southwold shop in East Suffolk, a couple of months ago and so far I’ve been very impressed

They had a lot to live up to since trying the first bottle which was the excellent Carmenere, see my review here …..

I’ve since tasted the Picpoul de Pinet, Nero d’Avola and now the Chardonnay. Look back through my posts and you will find my thoughts on the Picpoul and Nero.

So how did the Chilean Chardonnay stand up?, well, let me tell you……

Adnams Chilean Chardonnay 2023

Ok, so the labels are fairly understated, but there's nothing understated about what’s in the bottle.

What I must say though, this particular wine was most definitely a food wine, on it’s own it kind of lost its way.

It was bright and fresh, lots of pineapple flavours, hint of other tropical fruits as well including mango and passion fruit.

There was some oiliness in both the aroma and taste and that’s where I think it struggled as a stand-alone drink.

Paired with Chicken and prawn Spanish rice and Roast pork it drank beautifully.

Saying this I would happily buy it again, it was a very good Chilean Chardonnay, even better with food, not so much on its own, but that wouldn’t put me off as 90% of the wines we drink are always with food.

So why not take a punt with Adnams for some wine, you may be surprised They’re are not all about beer, even if they are pretty decent as well.
