First-time All-Star Andy Pages can now showcase his complete game

The Midsummer Classic is the showcase of baseball’s biggest and newest stars.

Among the group of five the Dodgers are sending to the 2026 All-Star Game in Philadelphia is Andy Pages, who would be in the second qualification.

So now it’s also a chance to showcase one of baseball’s biggest arms.

Pages smiles at the question of that.

“It’s not something I’m thinking about,” he said on Saturday shortly after he was informed that he is an All-Star for the first time. “I think a lot of people already know about my arm. But if it’s something I have to show, I will.”

That’s been part of the difference between this year and last year.

Pages showed flashes of becoming an elite defender last season, but the first half of the 2025 season also included some early miscues in the outfield as well as on the basepaths.

He was batting .293/.329/.510/ with 17 home runs, 15 doubles, 58 RBI on July 2, 2025, when NL All-Stars were announced. But his name was absent from the list.

“I think last year left me a little frustrated, a little bit bothered that I wasn’t selected,” Pages admitted. “But at the same time, I knew it was something we can’t control, and there was nothing we could do. It kind of showed me a lot of lessons from last year to kind of just focus on what I need to do, as opposed to thinking what would happen if I would have made the team. So, it was just more focusing on the things I can control and what I need to do to prepare myself to make it this year.”

The offensive numbers are similar this season.

He ranks in the National League top 10 in the following categories:

· RBI: 62 (tied for second) · Extra-base hits: 38 (eighth) · Doubles: 21 (tied for eighth) · Total bases: 163 (ninth)

He is batting .269/.331/.477/.807 with 16 home runs.

But Pages has been undeniably one of baseball’s best and most exciting defensive outfielders.

Pages leads all Major League outfielders with 10 assists and is tied for the MLB lead with 16 defensive runs saved. He ranks third in fielding run value at nine runs. He hasn’t made an error this season. He had five at this point last season.

Baseball Reference had him with a 4.0 WAR — the third-most valuable position player in the National League by that statistic. That’s a combination of all the things he’s doing right — offensively and defensively, most notably.

“I’m really proud of the work that I’ve done to get to this point,” Pages said. “It also shows me the little things I can do to get a little bit better.”
