Newsletter 03: Realigning

A reflection on changing direction, finding alignment, and moving forward.

These past few months, I’ve been working on a project focused on accessible help for dyslexics. It’s something I care deeply about.

However, as the project developed, I started to feel a disconnect between the idea and the energy I was able to consistently bring to it. And that matters more than I initially thought.

I’ve realized that meaningful work isn’t just about choosing the right problem; it’s about finding something you can stay engaged with over time and something you feel energized by working on. Without that, making any progress becomes forced rather than enjoyable.

Because of that, I’ve decided to step back from this project and realign my focus toward something new.

In honor of my (now) previous focus, here's an overview of my replicate 1. For my focus, I worked on accessible support for dyslexic students. My initial motivation was from my own experiences.

I have Dyslexia, and I grew up in a country where my first language isn’t spoken. During my first years of primary school, I experienced great difficulty with Danish. My teachers were convinced it couldn’t be dyslexia, and I simply had trouble learning two languages at once. “Luckily”, I moved to another city and changed schools. At my new school, I had amazing teachers, where my language teachers were further educated on dyslexic students, which is how I got tested. I know that this isn’t the reality for most dyslexic students, and therefore, I took it upon myself to change that.

I wrote a ‘learn article’ exploring AI school support for students facing difficulties. Thereafter, coded ClarityFont using Co-Pilot for my Replicate 1. ClarityFont is a font recommender. You are presented with a short paragraph with different fonts. You time your reading time, and at the end, you get a leaderboard with your best font. Afterwards, you are tested with your best font and paragraph, but this time the spacing varies.

I’m currently exploring a new direction that feels more aligned with my curiosity and long-term goals. It’s still early, but I’m excited about building something Ican fully commit to.

Realigning isn’t always easy. But it’s necessary.

And this feels like the right step forward.

Moving forward, I’ll be working on a new project focused on creating a forum for teenagers to engage in political discussion, not just to share opinions, but to challenge them.

The goal is to build a space where ideas are tested, arguments are developed, and disagreement is seen as a tool for learning rather than conflict.

I’m especially interested in how young people form their views, and how we can get better at questioning them, refining them, and expressing them clearly.

Thank you for reading my 3rd Newsletter! I hope you’ll follow along with my new project.
