The Unsolved Disappearances of Darcy and Charlotte Brown

The disappearances of Charlotte Elaine Brown and Darcy Dawson are cold cases that continue to be extremely chilling and have always raised eyebrows throughout Ohio.

Darcy Dawson Brown

Darcy Dawson Brown went missing in 1964 at the age of 22 in Lakewood, Ohio. Darcy Dawson Brown was married to Morris Albert Brown, who was seen by Darcy’s three children stabbing Darcy once in the stomach then proceeded to stab her three times in the back. They then witnessed Morris rolling her up in an orange shag carpet and then she was placed into the maroon car that they had.

At the time of her possible murder, Darcy was approximately 100–110 pounds and could not fight off Morris at the time of the attack. She was last seen in Lakewood, Ohio between January 1964 and January 1966, the exact date is unknown.

Police officers were told that her body may have been buried around Hinckley Lake or she could be around Medina County, Ohio. Since her children were the eyewitnesses to the event, and described the horrific actions that they witnessed, Morris was never charged with Darcy’s murder and Darcys body has never been recovered despite search efforts which seemed to have been limited at the time they were conducted. Darcy is listed as a presumed homicide victim.

Charlotte Elaine Mains Brown

Approximately nine years after Darcy’s disappearance, Morris remarried, his second wife was Charlotte Elaine Mains Brown. It is believed she went missing on April 5th, 1973, at the age of 29 years old.

Like Darcy, Charlotte may not have been able to fight off a potential attacker due to her size and weight, at the time Charlotte was approximately 105 pounds and 5’4. After she had been dropped off at a Rapid Transit station on East 55th Street in Cleveland by a friend and was never seen again.

Immediately her disappearance raised concern due to similarities between Darcy’s disappearance and Charlottes. Charlotte was the mother of three children who have never found out what happened to their mother. The police discovered that Morris had been the last known person to have been connected to Charlotte and conducted an investigation, however, there was no evidence to determine what happened to her. Charlotte is still listed as an endangered missing person.

Morris is deceased and police never received any information regarding either disappearance from him.
