Haiti Earthquake- Audio Slideshow Analysis

When it comes to multimedia slideshows, I think that there are a lot people don’t realize. For me, it is hard to sit and watch pictures go by with very little exciting things. However, I think for natural disasters and stuff, this video works really well.

The audio slideshow over the Haiti earthquake has 6,408 views. That is what drew this to me first because for this many people to watch it, something had to be drawing people to this video.

I think that the pictures show how disastrous this can be, and how excruciatingly painful this experience is. I would have really liked to have heard testimonies. To me listening to this disaster is boring, but hearing how this is affecting people is more of something I would be interested in.

The photos are nicely shot, and I think they are the reason so many people watched this. It shows the way disaster hits and how it can tear everything up in its path. This is such a related news value for anyone because disaster can strike at any time.

One thing I really enjoyed about this is the people pictured. If you look around 14 seconds, there is an image of three individuals. One is carrying something on his back, and to me it looks like it might be a sack of sand or stuff they have scurried up through the warpath. This image to me shows that people don’t give up when the going gets tough.

Later on in the video you see a man standing and he is about to pick up a sack with all of his belongings. However, if you look all around him, there are clothes, shoes, and so much more stuff that was blown around or shaken up with this earthquake.

My favorite thing about this video is that it doesn’t lie. The pictures you see are what really happened and what people go through. The guy speaking isn’t afraid to tell his opinion and his feelings about what happened.

Also, I like how he narrated about how these people that just went through this earthquake don’t need a whole lot. He did say that they need food and they need water. This hits home because I had a tornado destroy my house a couple years ago, and it’s the truth. People bring you clothes and stuff, which is fantastic and obviously needed.

What we really need is support and the basic things in life. We need to help each other out. With this video, I think it raises that awareness.
