Mouthwatering Bruschetta: Simple, Delicious and attractive on the plate!

From the Kitchen of fullmoonpastry and delights. (8/2025)
This basic bruschetta is sure to stimulate your taste buds, and leave your friends begging for more. If you’re looking for that one crowd pleaser, look no further, this is one of my family’s favorite horderves I have made.
I always get requests to make this again when I come home from college. It is a special treat to me because it is one of the first things we made in my high school culinary class, which was the first time I was in a real cooking class.
This is a great simple snack when you have people over. It is the perfect delight for a game night, movie night, or even to watch the big game. It is light, and satisfying. It pairs nicely with many dinners. It presents nicely but is not challenging to prepare.
This bruschetta has solved many problems when we have struggled to bring the perfect dish to a gathering.
First gather all the ingredients (listed below). It is important to get a fresh baguette. I like to buy the brown and serve and keep them in the freezer so I don’t have to run to the store. I also typically have a basil plant on hand. This is much more economical than buying cut basil in the produce section.
Ingredients:
1 French baguette, sliced diagonally, 1/4 inch thick
4–5 medium tomatoes (or 1.5 lbs roma/cherry tomatoes), diced
1–2 fresh garlic cloves, minced or pressed
About an 1/8 -1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, torn or cut into thin ribbons (chiffonade)
2–3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, plus extra for drizzling
1–2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar
Balsamic glaze (optional, but recommended for presentation.)
Salt and coarsely ground black pepper to taste
Instructions:
-
Dice the tomatoes.
-
Mince the garlic.
-
Chop or tear the basil.
-
Combine all prepared ingredients along with EVO, balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper in a medium bowl and let mixture sit for at least 30 minutes in the fridge, but for best results 2–6 hours.
-
Slice the bread.
-
Drizzle olive oil on bread, season with salt and pepper.
-
Cook in oven at 400℉ or toast on stove until light golden brown and crisp around the edges.
-
When you are ready to assemble, top each slice of toast, using a slotted spoon to avoid adding too much juice, add a generous amount of the mixture.
-
If desired, add more basil and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar glaze on top. (Really adds to the presentation).
-
Serve immediately.
