Tales of a mother (Part 2)

The other day I posted a story called Tales of a mother. It gave information about the side of motherhood that others don’t express to new moms or other moms. Some of these things can make you feel like a bad parent… However, this is not the case.

Children are going to do bad and sometimes… stupid things.

With all that being said, let's go over a few more things that have happened… that I wish I would have known would happen before I became a mother.

  1. My 8-year-old broke an important signed poster of mine. To avoid punishment, he thought the be better idea would be to throw the framed poster out of a three-story window.
  2. At the grocery store, my son looked upon the cashier and asked, “Why are you so fat.” There was an awkward silence.
  3. I heard a story the other day where a woman’s daughter snuck away at the store to find a baby brother. She returns with an African American child and asks, “Mom, can we keep the chocolate baby?” — The parent of the little boy was very understanding. I would have been mortified.
  4. They are never-ending pits. I have to hide snacks to make sure I can have one a couple days after the grocery shop.
  5. I haven’t finished a soda pop on my own in 11 years.
  6. I have to hide candy in an old dryer sheet box if I want to have some.
  7. One of my children yelled “It’s coming out of my butt.” While shitting in a public restroom. The stares I got when we were walking out made me nauseated.
  8. My ex-husband was doing drop off for my son and requested we sit down and talk because our child had used his iPad to look up Big Breasted Old Ladies over the weekend.
  9. Apparently, everything has to do with the word Butts is hilarious.
  10. Our oldest decided on a winter morning to go out onto the roof in his underwear to yell at a woman across the street. That one was difficult to explain to the neighbors.

This has been fun, and hopefully insightful. If you’re not yet a parent and looking to have littles in the future, do not let these things deter you. Although there are times where I want to curl myself into a ball and hide in a black hole, there are others where I couldn’t be prouder of our offspring.

If you are a current parent dealing with the same things, I am… Hi friend…. How are you holding up today?
