An Unusual Relationship — A Writing Challenge

You are on this planet by mistake, its time to go home, far away in the sky

A queen appears from the clouds. An elderly looking woman, her hair with a hue of cream and gold. She was dressed in a golden silk saree and wore jewellery studded with diamonds, with an aura that people living in palaces have. She landed in my bedroom and walked towards me with her maids around.

And says, “You are on this planet by mistake; it’s time for you to go home, far away in the sky”.

This was one of my earliest daydreams that I remember.

That which makes the most impossible things happen. That imaginary world which brings out all the emotions as alive and as deep as a real incident.

When I am sad or angry, that’s my place to go. As I wander along, all the possibilities that are created by me.

Nobody rejects me there. Nobody dares to push me away in any way.

I am always happy there, smiling, living the way I want, being the way I love to be.

It’s not just a little world; it’s a magical wonderland, where my biggest dreams have been played with my direction, the way I want it to be.

• Be it a cute guy who sat before me in exams, asking me out and waiting for my response, while me taking lots of time to ponder over it. When in reality, he had no idea that I had a crush on him, nor did my friends know about it.
• Or being the topper of my college, when in reality I had written the exam just to pass it.
• Becoming Miss Universe at 17 without even knowing the process of it.
• Getting married to my crush, having kids with him and taking a family pic in a swimming pool with his mom dad, just like one of his family pics in orkut.
• Or soaking myself in a mineralized clay pool in Australia, which changes my complexion from dusky to fair. That’s how obsessed I was to become fair-skinned once upon a time. Not anymore.

But something changed over time, which does not let me daydream much anymore. When I think of any possibility, the mind interrupts, saying Come on, with logical reasons.

Because with age and more life experiences comes learning as to what is possible and what really is not. We don’t believe things as we want them to be, as compared to when we are naive.

That is the beauty of being naive; it lets you have hope, it lets you dream of all the possibilities which you wish for.

There is absolutely nothing impossible when you are naive, just like a kid, being curious with an eagerness of ‘why not?’.
