Yearn

“I thought to myself, ‘I would love to treat you as my own children!’ I wanted nothing more than to give you this beautiful land — the finest possession in the world. I looked forward to your calling me ‘Father,’ and I wanted you never to turn from me.” —Jeremiah‬ ‭3‬:‭19‬ ‭

I’ve always heard and seen people talk about the. ‘God of the Old Testament’ , he was said to have been a ruthless and merciless God, as in ‘Mess up and it’s done for you’ kind of God but somehow all I see is a Yearning Father. One who would not mind a past as long you’re willingly to be saved. (Jeremiah 3:1)

When you think about it, even as humans we find it hard to show mercy to our fellow kind and it is praised to do so, ‘To err is human, to forgive is Divine’ and yet God, the greatest being to ever exist, has shown such divinity to a lowly kind, “Therefore, go and give this message to Israel. This is what the Lord says: “O Israel, my faithless people, come home to me again, for I am merciful. I will not be angry with you forever.” — Jeremiah 3:12

So what if we only judge God based on our own human shortcomings? We fail to see the chances he gives and only the result of our actions because we cannot truly comprehend the fact it is actually possible to forgive.

I did not see or meet the ‘God of the Old Testament’ but I have heard and read of Him and His words yet all I define him as is A Father.

A Father who yearns to have a relationship with his own.
