We Couldn’t Hire Engineers Who Could Build AI Systems. So We Built the School That Trains Them.

An honest look at why India’s engineering education is broken — and what ABOSS Tech School is doing about it from Madurai, Tamil Nadu.

The hiring cycle that broke us

Every few months, ABOSS Technologies India runs a hiring cycle. We are an AI-first enterprise software company based in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. We need engineers who can think in architecture, deploy AI to production, and operate complex enterprise systems.

For years, we kept failing to find them.

Not for lack of applicants. Hundreds of applications from intelligent, hardworking graduates. But when we asked them to architect a scalable AI system, explain how a RAG pipeline handles production load, or describe what a system-first mindset means — most candidates had no idea.

This wasn’t their fault.

The gap is not intelligence. It’s exposure.

India produces 1.5 million engineering graduates every year. The talent is there. But engineering education teaches students to write code, not to build systems. It teaches what AI is, not how to deploy it for real businesses.

This problem is worst in Tier-2 Tamil Nadu — Madurai, Ramanathapuram, Tirunelveli — where the talent density is high but access to real-world engineering exposure is nearly zero. Smart people. No pathway.

Why we stopped waiting for someone else to fix it

We run live enterprise AI systems with real business clients at real scale. These are not toy projects. They are production systems handling real workloads.

And we realised: we can teach people on them.

That became ABOSS Tech School.

Four tracks. Every stage of the journey.

T1 · ABOSS AI Launchpad (16 days · ₹10,000) For school students. 1 hr/day. Explore AI tools — ChatGPT, Claude, Canva AI, Suno, CapCut. No prior experience needed. Capstone project by Day 16. The entry point to the ABOSS Tech School ecosystem.

T2 · ABOSS AI Foundations (3 months · ₹55,000) For freshers and final year students. 4 hrs/day, 260 hrs total. Python for AI, Transformers, RAG systems, AI Agents, deployment. Students build and deploy a working AI system as their capstone. EMI: ₹9,167 × 6 months.

T3 · AI Systems Engineering (4 months · ₹75,000) For engineering graduates and working developers. 2 hrs/day, hybrid format.Architect scalable AI infrastructure. Master production deployment with modern MLOps tools. Optimize for performance and cost. Think in end-to-end system design. Work happens on live enterprise AI systems — not simulations.EMI: ₹18,750 × 4 months.

T4 · Business Operator (45 days · ₹22,000) For business owners and operations managers. 2 hrs/day, online-first. Design self-running automated workflows connecting sales, marketing, and ops. Optimise for operational efficiency. Build scalable, repeatable systems. Shift from reactive task management to systems-first strategic leadership. No coding background required. EMI: ₹7,334 × 3 months.

Who we built this for

The T3 student we designed the engineering track for is someone we call Arjun. 23. From Ramanathapuram. First-generation engineer. ₹12,000/month data entry job. Strong fundamentals. Zero production experience. Cannot afford to move to Bangalore.

ABOSS Tech School exists for Arjun.

And it exists for his employer — the business owner in Madurai spending ₹80,000/month on manual operations that AI could automate, but who doesn’t know where to start. T4 was built for that person.

The long game

Pilot cohort Q3 2026. 30 seats from Madurai. After the pilot — 40 students in Cohort 2, college partnerships across Tamil Nadu, a corporate arm, and a physical lab by late 2027.

By 2030: Tamil Nadu’s recognized AI engineering institution.

Not because of geography or policy. Because one company decided to build the talent it could not find.
