VOIS Interview Experience (2026): Online Assessment, Technical & HR Interview Questions

A few weeks ago, I interviewed with VOIS (Vodafone Intelligent Solutions) for the Graduate Engineer Trainee — Technology role based in Pune. The role offered a package of ₹4.75 LPA along with a ₹25,000 joining bonus. Although I couldn’t convert the opportunity into an offer, the interview process itself was one of the most insightful experiences I’ve had. It gave me a better understanding of what companies expect from fresh graduates and the areas I still need to improve. If you’re preparing for VOIS or a similar Graduate Engineer Trainee role, here’s everything I remember from the hiring process.

📌 Role Details

Company: VOIS (Vodafone Intelligent Solutions)

Role: Graduate Engineer Trainee — Technology

Location: Pune

CTC: ₹4.75 LPA + ₹25,000 Joining Bonus

Eligibility • B.Tech (CSE/IT) — 2026 Passout Batch • Minimum 60% throughout Class X, XII and Graduation • No active backlogs

Round 1: Online Assessment

The first round was an online assessment consisting of three sections.

1. Verbal Ability

The verbal section mainly consisted of analogy-based reasoning questions.

Some questions looked like this:

Fire : Heat :: Water : ?

These are known as Analogy Questions, where you need to identify the relationship between two words and apply the same relationship to another pair.

There were several similar reasoning questions testing logical relationships and vocabulary.

2. Quantitative Aptitude

The aptitude section was comparatively easy.

The questions were based on topics like:

  • Percentages
  • Profit & Loss
  • Ratio & Proportion
  • Average
  • Time & Work
  • Basic Arithmetic
  • Simple Calculations

If you’ve practiced placement aptitude before, this section shouldn’t be too difficult.

3. Puzzle Round

This was undoubtedly the toughest section of the assessment.

The puzzles required careful logical thinking and effective time management. Compared to the other two sections, this one was definitely more challenging.

After clearing the online assessment, I was shortlisted for the Technical Interview.

Round 2: Technical Interview (Around 35 Minutes)

The technical interview lasted for approximately 35 minutes.

Rather than feeling like a rapid-fire interview, it was more like an in-depth technical discussion.

It started with the usual question:

“Tell me about yourself.”

I introduced myself, talked about my educational background, internships, projects, technical skills, and interests.

Project Discussion

The interviewer then asked me to explain one of my frontend projects.

I chose my React-based project and explained:

  • Why I built it
  • The problem it solves
  • Technologies used
  • My contribution
  • Features of the project

From there, the interviewer started diving deeper into the project.

The discussion included topics like:

  • Project Architecture
  • React Components
  • State Management
  • Backend Integration
  • Authentication
  • Security
  • Database Communication
  • How data flows through the application

The interviewer wasn’t just interested in knowing what technologies I had used they wanted to understand whether I actually knew how everything worked together.

This discussion itself lasted for quite a while.

Internship Discussion

The interviewer then shifted towards my internship experience.

Some of the questions included:

  • What exactly did you work on?
  • What problem were you solving?
  • What was your contribution?
  • What impact did your work create?
  • What were the final outcomes?

One thing I noticed was that the interviewer focused much more on the results and business impact than simply asking which technologies I had used.

Preferred Domain Discussion

Another interesting question was:

“The Graduate Engineer Trainee role has multiple technology domains. Which domain would you prefer to work in?”

I explained that throughout my internships and projects, I had explored multiple domains.

During one internship, I worked in Data Analytics, where I used Power BI and Python to analyze data and create dashboards.

Apart from that, I have also worked on Manual Testing and built several Full-Stack web applications through internships and personal projects.

I told the interviewer that I am comfortable working in any domain based on the company’s requirements because I enjoy learning new technologies and adapting to different roles.

However, if I were given the opportunity to choose, I would prefer Full-Stack Development.

I shared that I enjoy building complete applications from creating responsive user interfaces to developing backend APIs and integrating databases. Working on full-stack projects has helped me understand how different parts of an application interact with each other, and that’s the domain I see myself growing in.

I think the interviewer wanted to understand whether I was flexible enough to work across different domains while also having a genuine area of interest.

Backend & Cloud Discussion

The interviewer then shifted towards backend fundamentals.

Some of the questions I remember were:

  • Explain Backend Systems.
  • How does authentication work?
  • What is authorization?
  • Explain security in web applications.

The discussion then moved towards Cloud Computing.

Questions included:

  • Difference between Public Cloud
  • Private Cloud
  • Hybrid Cloud

The interviewer also asked me about some commonly used AWS services and their use cases.

API vs Middleware

One conceptual question I remember was:

“What is the difference between an API and Middleware?”

The interviewer was looking for conceptual clarity instead of textbook definitions.

Overall, the technical interview lasted around 35 minutes and felt more like an engineering discussion than a traditional interview. Before concluding, I was also given the opportunity to ask a few questions about the role and the company, which made the conversation more interactive.

Round 3: HR Interview (Around 35 Minutes)

After clearing the technical interview, I was selected for the HR Interview.

This round also lasted around 35 minutes.

Unlike a typical HR round, it felt like a conversation aimed at understanding me as a person.

The interviewer asked questions like:

  • Tell me about yourself.
  • Tell me about your family.
  • What are your strengths?
  • What are your weaknesses?
  • What are your likes and dislikes?
  • What do you enjoy doing outside academics?

“Describe a Day in Your Life”

One interesting question was:

“Describe a normal day in your life.”

I talked about:

  • My daily routine
  • Learning new technologies
  • Building personal projects
  • Reading books
  • Creating technical content on LinkedIn
  • Applying for jobs
  • Continuous learning

The interviewer wanted to understand my daily habits and whether I consistently invested time in improving my skills.

LinkedIn Discussion

One of the most unexpected parts of the interview was a discussion around my LinkedIn profile. We spoke about why I started creating content, the opportunities it has opened for me, the brands I’ve collaborated with, and how networking has helped me professionally. I wasn’t expecting LinkedIn to become such a major topic, but it turned out to be one of the most enjoyable conversations during the interview.

Relocation Discussion

The interviewer then asked if I was comfortable relocating to Pune.

We also discussed:

  • My experience studying at VIT University
  • Living away from home
  • My willingness to relocate for work

Internship Discussion (Again)

Interestingly, the HR interviewer also asked about my internship.

Some questions included:

  • What work did you do?
  • What technologies did you use?
  • What did you learn?
  • What impact did your work create?

This taught me an important lesson:

Prepare your internship experience well because both Technical and HR interviewers may ask about it.

Power BI Question

Another question I remember was:

“How would you rate your Power BI skills?”

Instead of exaggerating, I honestly explained my experience and rated myself based on the projects I had completed.

Towards the End of the HR Interview

Like the technical round, the HR interviewer also gave me the opportunity to ask a few questions. We had a brief discussion about the company and the role, and the interaction ended on a positive note. I believe asking questions at the end of an interview not only helps you understand the organization better but also shows your genuine interest in the opportunity.

The Result

A few days later, I received the update.

Although I didn’t receive the offer, I don’t consider this experience a failure. Clearing the online assessment and reaching the final HR round gave me confidence that I was moving in the right direction. More importantly, it showed me that companies don’t just evaluate technical knowledge they also look at communication skills, confidence, clarity of thought, and how well you understand the work you’ve actually done.

My Biggest Learnings

If you’re preparing for VOIS, here are a few things I’d recommend:

  • Know every project on your resume in detail.
  • Be prepared to explain your internship work, contributions, and business impact.
  • Revise backend fundamentals, APIs, Middleware, Authentication, Authorization, and Security.
  • Study Cloud Computing concepts, especially Public, Private, and Hybrid Cloud.
  • Revise popular AWS services and their use cases.
  • Practice aptitude regularly, especially analogy-based reasoning and logical puzzles.
  • Be honest while answering HR questions.
  • If asked about your preferred domain, explain both your flexibility and your genuine area of interest.
  • Always ask thoughtful questions at the end of every interview.
