I miss that sexy sax

Sounds of sultry desire

Song of jazz voice

I miss hungry applause

Of those who crave

Instruments of jazz

I miss my voice

Heard in the fire

Flames bursting

Blending notes of keys

Drums with trumpet

Trumpet with bass

I miss the solos

Sounds of soul

Music of artists

Songbook of the greats

And dance of swift feet

Hands clapping at each beat

Soothing and smooth

Jazz of mine

Body enveloped in poetic rhyme

Breath of melody

Rhythm and blues

Intwined with saxes

I miss the mic

Of jazz of mine

Thrill of harmony

Jazz’s rhythmic beat

Brass and wood of soul

Our voice as one
