Stop Naming Products Variants Manually — Use Nomenclature in D365 F&O

Manual assignment of names and Ids to product variants can cause inconsistencies in naming and involve human error.D365 Nomenclature enables you to can fix that — systematically

Introduction

Product variant nomenclature is out of the box functionality to assigning variants Ids and names based on Product master number, name, Product attributes, dimensions, number sequences and hardcoded values etc.

Setup

1. Product Nomenclature

Go to Product Information Management → Setup → Product Nomencalture

Create new and give it a name

click add and add segments according to your naming requirement

2.Available segment options

After successfully setting up nomenclature there are two ways to use this

Add the nomenclature to product

Add the nomenclature to product dimension group

product variant name nomenclature cannot be assigned to product dimension group

Assign nomenclature to product dimension group

Enable use number nomenclature and select a nomenclature

3. Lets test our configurations

create a new product master and set appropriate product dimensions
