I have never, fully done things based on “who you are”.

You are not what you think you are.

You are what you do.

“I always do … like this”, “Oh, I never do…”, “Me I know myself, I always do…”. And it is always a positive thing o.

Man, know thyself. Socrates. There’s a reason why he said this.

These statements usually form from a mind that is unfortunately unaware of itself, of its abilities and its inner workings. A person with true knowledge of self, while a very idealistic achievement, knows that the beginning of such knowledge is in knowing that such knowledge will never. Be. Had.

It is not in what you think you do.

I always listen. I always stay honest. I never lie to others. I always protect those I love. I always do my work well.

Nobody ever “always” does these things, and it takes a blinding level of ego to declare such.

Even if you do these things, why announce it? If it was physically true, and could be confirmed by proof, why continue to feed it life with empty words? If you truly “always” did these things, I assure you, people would point it out TO YOU, not the other way round. I mean, everybody’s watching right?

And even if no one sees you, or no one points it out, it doesn’t feel soo unique for you to do it, if that is truly who you are. It is okay if it is not you, and you are trying to improve as a person. I personally, try to always listen to others. I fail often, maybe because that is not who I am YET, but I try. That is special to me. But I eat everyday, nobody needs to tell me. I find a way to sleep everyday, or at least an average day. I don’t flex it, or announce it. Because that, IS MY NATURE.

Really, I feel nowadays, people use these “identity lies” to defend habits, they are trying to have, or not have at all, and EXPECT everyone to believe them. A kind of “lie to yourself, until it is true”. Just be honest. I mean, nobody’s watching, right?

But I mean, what do I know? Tell me what you do, though.
