My absence will never haunt anyone

Because my presence never truly mattered.

I was just the quiet figure in the crowd,

One left in slow motion as others swiftly pass,

Not interesting enough to catch your eye.

I drift through life like a boat on water,

Like a shadow, always invisible, always transparent,

Always unseen, always away from shore.

I yearn for the sense of belonging, to be in a place where for once,

I am the observed, not the observer.

I am left with the longing to be noticed, to be admired,

To be yearned for the kindness I quietly hold,

The love I silently bear, and to be thought of, to be loved.

For my voice is never heard and will remain a lingering echo,

When I am gone, I hope to be a soul that wanders,

To watch those who mourn for me, no presence noticed.

Just me and my transparent absence.
