Lift ban on DGF — Civil Society

Civil society organizations have urged President Yoweri Museveni to lift the ban over the Democratic Governance Facility-DGF which has been the main source of funding for such organizations.

Operations of DGF which is an entity through which donors channeled resources to facilitate activities of NGO`s were suspended last year with Government insisting that it must be represented on its board.

The Civil society organizations believe that the concerns raised by the Government have since been addressed and now want the president to lift the ban.

The Executive Director at the National Coalition of human rights defenders Robert Kirenga says many NGO`s have been crippled by the ban.
