She is seated outside his house in a car for the past twenty minutes. She has calculated the time from her work place to his house and it was 27 minutes compared to the 37 minutes to her place. It is not the proximity that led her here. She has blasted music so loud that her apple watch kept on signaling that she should exist the loud environment as her eardrums are in danger.

All the possible scenarios that could unfold have already had a run and re-run in her brain. She knows she is not prepared for most of the scenarios and that she is only hoping for one outcome. The voices in her head are having a whole party at this point. “girl he could be married by now’, ‘he could have moved houses’ ‘he could have travelled’, ‘what if he refuses to open the door?’ ‘what if he does open and slams it in your face?

She knows what to do in only one scenario, she knows she will hug the hell out of this man if he opens the door and lets her run into his strong arms. In the car has she has a decision paralysis she allows herself to drift to vanity of beauty that is this man. As she likes to describe him a tall glass of chocolate goodness. A masterpiece curated with precision in every curve including his perfectly shaped head that sits right in his strong shoulders that have been able to lift, carry and squat with at her heaviest and I mean literally.

She dials digits on her phone on loud speaker and the sound of her best friend is on the other side, excitement jumping off the phone. The girl says ‘I am outside his house’ and there is no question of who? or where? because she knows who. For months the girl had put up all the measures to stay clear of this man and move on. She blocked him on every social media channel and to make it worse blocked his phone number while they were on a call to make sure that they never ever talk. Among many other things there religions will never let them be together and what is the point of wasting with someone you have no future with? But alas! she is outside his house now after 4 months of absolute no contact.

If she is being utterly honest apart of her tongue has not been alright because she has lost sight in her left ear since she has not her illicit drug of him for months. Has he missed her like she has? Did she cross his mind? Was he like, ‘good riddance!’ when he found out he was blocked? She either opens this car door or she runs herself crazy with all these questions flooding her causing more to pop in her brain rendering her immobile.

‘Big gal pants , babe, big girl pants!!’ She whispers to herself and reminds herself it is for closure and this is the last time she come to this place if does not open the door. A nudge of energy engulfs her and her hand finds the door knob and she pushes the front door open slowly gets out and closes the car before she changes her mind as her best friend say, ‘you came all that way, you might as well go inside’.

The security guard at the entrance of the building smiles at her and does not ask her to sign her name or leave an Identity card because girl is a regular here… was a regular here. She takes that as a sign that it will be fine. In all his glory and handsomeness he swings the door open after she rings the bell for the second time. Her heart is pumping with equal measure of excitement of seeing him and fear of what may happen.

“ I missed you so much” she hears the words leave her mouth immediately he lets her in. And in his eloquence he has, “What are the parameters you used to gauge that?” They both smile and you know they have wanted to see each other so bad
