Bekasi Prosecutor’s Office Warns Students About Online Gambling Through School Program

The Bekasi District Prosecutor’s Office continues its Jaksa Masuk Sekolah (JMS) initiative, educating students on legal matters. During a session at SMP Negeri 4 Tambun Selatan (February 25, 2025), prosecutors focused on the growing threat of online gambling among teenagers.

Online Gambling: A Serious Risk for Youth

Samuel, Head of Intelligence at the Bekasi Prosecutor’s Office, highlighted the dangers and legal consequences of online gambling.

“With online gambling spreading rapidly in Indonesia, we specifically address its risks and legal repercussions,” Samuel stated.

He urged students to stay away from gambling and support efforts to combat this illegal activity.

“We strongly encourage students to avoid all forms of online gambling and help eradicate these practices,” he added.

High Enthusiasm from Students and Educators

The Bekasi District Attorney’s Office held a “Prosecutors Enter School” (JMS) program at SMPN 4 Tambun Selatan, Tuesday (25/02)

The program attracted hundreds of students from several schools, including:

• SMP Negeri 4 Tambun Selatan
• SMP Negeri 9 Tambun Selatan
• SMP Negeri 14 Tambun Selatan

Students eagerly engaged with the prosecutors, asking legal questions. Teachers also welcomed the program, hoping for more sessions to strengthen legal awareness among teenagers.

Legal Basis for Preventing Online Gambling

According to Samuel, the JMS program aligns with Article 30 (3) of Law №16/2004 on the Attorney General’s Office, revised by Law №11/2021. It also supports national education goals by building legal awareness among students.

“Through this program, we aim to help students understand the importance of following the law and avoiding illegal activities,” he explained.

A Serious Warning for the Younger Generation

The Bekasi Prosecutor’s Office remains committed to preventing juvenile delinquency, including online gambling, through education and legal outreach.

Samuel closed the session with a strong message: “We hope this initiative helps students understand the dangers of online gambling and steer clear of it for a better future.”
