EX-GER THOMSON DREAMS OF MANAGING RANGERS

Former Rangers midfielder Kevin Thomson has reiterated his dream to one day manage the Scottish Champions.
Speaking on the Open Goal podcast, Thomson declared “I want to be the Rangers manager one day, that’s my goal”.
Thomson professed “everyone knows I love the club, working there and representing it”
He left his Rangers colts coaching role in 2021 to pursue his own career in management, opting to sign for league two Kelty Hearts.
Thommo replaced former Ibrox team-mate Barry Ferguson at the helm, after Ferguson departed for Alloa, having guided Kelty to SPFL football from the lower leagues.
Kelty currently sits top of the table, losing once in eighteen games and it’s highly likely he will have gained admiration from decision-makers at other clubs.
Kevin Thomson was part of the Hibs “golden generation”, signed for Rangers by the late Walter Smith in 2007 and played a pivotal role in the clubs run to the UEFA Cup Final in 2008.
He would move down South in 2010 to Middlesbrough but was sadly plagued by injuries and returned to Scotland in 2013 for playing stints with Hibs and Dundee.
Remembered fondly for his “Welcome to Glasgow” greeting of Celtic forward Robbie Keane, he remains a fan favourite of the Gers fans and is seen as a great ambassador of the club.
Despite managing his own club, and running his own football academy, he can often be found doing commentary on RangersTV on matchdays.
Thomson was interviewed for a position on Pedro Caxinha’s backroom team but was pipped by Jonathan Johansson to the role, a setback that has clearly not deterred him.
Thommo will of course have to bide his time and earn his stripes elsewhere with Rangers having recently appointed Giovanni Van Bronckhorst.
GVB’s Rangers are currently flying, sitting six points clear at the top of the table, undefeated under the new manager.
The Dutchman has already added to his ranks in the transfer window with the singing of James Sands from NYCFC, and the club appears to remain active, with a reported interest in Frank Castaneda.
