My Interview Experience for the Business Technology Solutions Associate Role at ZS Associates
Recently, I had the opportunity to appear for the recruitment process for the Business Technology Solutions Associate role at ZS Associates. Since many students and fresh graduates are interested in consulting and technology-driven roles, I thought of sharing my experience to help others understand the overall process and preparation strategy.
The entire recruitment journey was well-structured and tested multiple skill sets including analytical thinking, communication, technical knowledge, and problem-solving ability.
Round 1: Aptitude Assessment
The first round was an online aptitude test designed to evaluate analytical and quantitative abilities.
The assessment had varying levels of difficulty and time constraints. Some sections included around 25 questions in just 5 minutes, while others had only a couple of lengthy questions with more time allotted. The major topics included:
- Logical reasoning
- Quantitative aptitude
- Pattern analysis
- Data interpretation
- Guesstimates
The biggest challenge in this round was managing speed and accuracy simultaneously.
My Takeaway
Practicing aptitude questions regularly and improving calculation speed can significantly help in clearing this round.

Round 2: Verbal Assessment
Candidates shortlisted from the aptitude round moved to the verbal assessment round.
This round mainly focused on communication skills and included:
- Listening exercises
- Writing tasks
- Speaking assessments
The level of difficulty was moderate, and confidence played a major role. A clear speaking style and good audio setup were definitely helpful during the process.
My Takeaway
Strong communication does not necessarily mean using complex vocabulary. Clear expression and confidence matter more.
Round 3: Technical Assessment
This was the core technical round and was heavily focused on SQL.
The assessment included:
- SQL MCQs
- Query writing questions
- Database concepts
Most questions were easy to moderate in difficulty, but the time pressure required solid command over SQL fundamentals such as:
- Joins
- Group By
- Aggregate functions
- Subqueries
- Filtering and sorting data
The round also included a coding question of moderate difficulty. One important point was that the allowed programming languages were only Java and Python.
My Takeaway
If you are targeting roles at ZS, strong SQL preparation is extremely important. Speed and accuracy in writing queries can make a huge difference.
Final Round: Technical + HR Interview
The final round combined both technical and HR discussions to evaluate technical understanding, problem-solving ability, and overall fit for the role.
The interviewer asked questions related to:
- Projects
- Internship experience
- SQL concepts
- Resume-based discussions
- Behavioral and situational scenarios
A major part of the conversation revolved around explaining projects and internship work in detail. Being confident while discussing your own work is extremely important.
Some common HR questions included:
- Why ZS?
- Why are you interested in this role?
- What are your career goals?
- Experiences working in teams
My Takeaway
Be thoroughly prepared with everything mentioned in your resume because interviewers can dive deep into any section.
Overall Experience
Overall, the entire process was a great learning experience. The recruitment journey tested not only technical knowledge but also communication, analytical thinking, and confidence under pressure.
One thing I learned from this experience is that interview preparation is not just about solving questions — it is also about understanding your strengths, presenting yourself confidently, and clearly communicating your thought process.
For students and freshers preparing for similar opportunities, consistency and strong fundamentals are key.
Wishing all aspirants the very best for their preparation and interviews!
