Fao Harrison Pitt: Restore/Reform — towards a science fiction state.

UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves was obscenely heckled by a white van driver at a petrol station recently. Objections to Reeves’ heckler fall because he is exactly the meme-heated violent vanguardian needed for the job of protecting Harrison’s new elite. If either Rupert or Nigel (what a pair of names for resurgent England!) fall under a bus who takes over? It will be whoever heads up the security element, most probably concierge-in-chief Zia Yusef. We are not given details of the personnel protection contracts but those burly, lumbering bald headed men with beards all answer to someone and I imagine the contracts are being aggregated into a powerful block. In a piece on Courage.Media Harrison writes: “… decentralised social media platforms pose as much of a threat to the present regime under which we live as the printing press did to the dominance of the Catholic Church in the 16th century… “

Harrison is a citizen of that meta-world but what he omits to speak of are the primate brain algorithms built in to induce actual triggering in the public space. It is the plugging back of social media into the old-time material world that generates new mobs, wild angry men and women, not just dissident intellectuals in nice suits. He quotes Auron MacIntyre’s The Total State (2024): “… if the will of the people is the key to legitimating the power of the ruling class, then the ruling class must take an interest in controlling the will of the people. The good news for our elite is that mass media provides the perfect tool for doing this… ” Harrison then goes on to say: “… thanks to a relatively unregulated online sphere, we have at our disposal much more incisive tools than the ones available to an increasingly weary, discredited mass media… … by decrying elites as such, populists are too often reluctant to undertake the more audacious work of replacing them…” (my italics).

Those young property developers on Zoom talking about putting the country back onto the right course — what could possible go wrong? In their discourse of unashamed pragmatism when converting houses into HMO’s for people they despise, the moral fault line must someday work its way to the surface and become ugly social conflict. To put in to effect re-migration (which amounts to turning England inside out) the suits will need large cohorts of angry men and women to do the dirty work. Post-Thatcher, post-Brexit re-modelling, cracks and strains, hot words from underneath — an English revolution maybe, the solid assimilated middle no longer protected by a mistrusted police. Scare tactics are making the job easier: decent English with immigrant ancestors are already checking their passport expiry date and scoping Caribbean building plots, but there will be plenty of dirty work left to dish out.

I’m having the same feeling as when I thought too much about Islam, the feeling you are falling in with its alternative certainties contrary to your core beliefs. Something Jonathan Liew wrote recently about X helps me break out: “… you are not special. You are not immune to fake news, delusion, anti-reality. You do not have a unique ability to maintain your critical faculties in an ecosystem where everyone else is losing theirs. Every minute you spend in the hot water boils you a little more… “

Let me be clear about my core beliefs. I am for metissisation. I am for exogamy. My grandfather a second generation immigrant jew who married a christian, my daughters wedded to mediterraneans, eldest granddaughter has found an asiatic. The white ethno nationalists, drawing their wagons ever closer, will end up as far off the main human track as the deep dark urdu speaking housewives in Slough. Don’t get me wrong — as a protestant atheist I have no time for Islam but I recognise the validity of their human success in occupying “christian” territory just as Mayflower christians displaced native Americans — quicker to adapt to novel circumstances while keeping faith with their core beliefs.

If our talent is inventiveness and surrealist humour, their’s is commerce. Pioneers from dusty, drab war zones with hardened survival skills have populated the cracks and crannies of post-Thatcher doomland and fuel local economies with a mix of welfare payments “black” economy and outright crime. Their fantasy vape shops aka cash laundries are part of a make believe world that runs all the way up to their transcendental fictions. Like Jesuits in different circumstances they have a dispensation to be dishonest with the white man, the former overlord now laid low. Flushing all that out means trumping their violence and cunning. The ICE program targeted “illegal immigrants” but Restore (and maybe now Reform) want to ship out people with legal entitlement to reside. The photograph at the head of this article names the precedent and when they move in with their doctrinaire excavators they will root up swathes of social tissue.

The scale of the project if we take Reform/Restore at their word with its attendant holding camp construction, its secure transport networks, the lodging of vetted tenants into purged housing will be large enough to be visible at every street corner, much like Bevin’s direction of civilian population was in 1940/45. The main hi-tech executory spine will be daunting for anyone to deal with, native Brit or not. The cosy landscape, the patchwork of green, the white cliffs that feature in Reform/Restore AI videos will be churned into a darkscape of rushed up pre-fab prisons, fenced off enclaves and the grumble of permanent civil strife.
