18 reasons why Letoya Luckett had the most bad luck of any entertainer

I’m rather ‘Torn’ by the bad luck Letoya had
After making nearly 70 articles on Medium, I’m rather surprised that I had not made an article about a celebrity up until this article. Granted, I’m not one of those people that’s obsessed with celebrity culture. Now I had done an earlier article where I mentioned several celebrities, but that list is not largely about 1 specific celebrity. That article is called ‘7 major problems that I had noticed about ‘Most Beautiful Women’ lists’. Anyway, here is my 1st article that will mainly be about 1 specific celebrity.
Letoya is a singer that got my attention back in 2006, which coincidentally is the year that I entered 12th grade. After hearing the song that she released that’s called ‘Torn’, I wanted the album that song was part of, ‘Letoya’. Years after that album, I did think that she was going to have a very big career in entertainment. I’m sad to say that I was wrong on that. Based on what’s been stated by people that closely followed her career, Letoya did seem to have much more bad luck than any other entertainer that had experienced bad luck. I’ll mention the many forms of bad luck that Letoya had experienced.
- She got kicked out of Destiny’s Child.
Destiny’s Child was a music group that Letoya was part of in the 1990s. I didn’t pay much attention to that group, though that’s probably because my mom, who is now deceased (cancer), was mainly into En Vogue and TLC. It was said by people that followed the group that Letoya was 1 of 3 people that got kicked out of Destiny’s Child. The other 2 are Latavia Roberson and Farrah Franklin. The latter was an attempted replacement after Letoya and Latavia got kicked out.
- Letoya became homeless after getting kicked out of Destiny’s Child.
Letoya had admitted that she was overspending on things when she was with Destiny’s Child, so she wasn’t good with handling the money that she made with the group. Combined that with being kicked out of the group, Letoya ended up being homeless. Letoya admitted that this time of her life was the worst experience of her life. It’s good that she got out of that experience.
- Letoya, along with Latavia, did attempt to start a music group that went nowhere.

After getting kicked out of Destiny’s Child, Letoya and Latavia created a music group called Anjel. The other two members are Tiffany Beaudoin and Naty Quinones. While Anjel did create several songs, the wings of Anjel never flew. Jagged Edge’s record label, which recorded Anjel’s songs, had crumbled sometime after Anjel recorded their songs on an album that would never happen. The Anjel members broke up without ever flying. The songs later got released on the internet. By the way, don’t bother trying to go to the site mentioned in the picture. That site no longer exists.
- Her biggest song as a solo artist peaked at #2 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

She was just 1 place off from having a #1 hit as a solo artist.
- What could of been Letoya’s 3rd solo single, ‘Obvious’, was never released as a single.

They say this was due to the merging of music studios at the time.
- Letoya’s first solo album, ‘Letoya’, is her only solo album to peak the U.S. Billboard 200.

I still find that hard to believe.
- Letoya’s 2nd solo album, ‘Lady Love’, did not do nearly as well as her 1st one.

Considering that none of the 4 singles of her 2nd solo album were around as good as ‘Torn’, ‘Obvious’, ‘What Love Can Do’, ‘All Eyes on Me’, and other songs from her 1st solo album, I’m not too surprised by her 2nd one not doing nearly as well.
- There’s more than 10 years between the 1st and 2nd movie that she appeared in.
According to Letoya’s IMDb (Internet Movie Database) page, the 1st movie that she appeared in is called Beverly Hood (1999). The 2nd movie that she appeared in is called The Preacher’s Kid (2010).
- Her 1st leading role in a movie was in a movie that flopped in theaters.
According to IMDb, The Preacher’s Kid grossed over $500,000 on a budget of $7,000,000. To be fair, indie movies will usually not make very serious money in theaters. The Passion of the Christ (2004) and The Blair Witch Project (1999) were among the exceptions when it came down to indie movies. Plus, fans of Letoya’s 1st album that were disappointed in her 2nd album would of used that as an excuse to not go see The Preacher’s Kid.
- The most well known movie that she appeared in is a movie that she was barely in.
The movie Killers (2010), which starred Ashton Kutcher, Katherine Heigl, and Tom Selleck, had grossed close to $100,000,000. Letoya played a very small role in that movie. That’s just pitiful.
- Nearly every movie that Letoya had appeared in is a TV movie.
I get that Letoya is not a very big star, but starring in mostly TV movies is rather sad when you consider that she had 1 solo album that went platinum. I guess that album not being big enough is why she didn’t get the same number of theater movie opportunities as Alicia Keys, Ashanti, or Rihanna.
- She didn’t have any big entertainment things nor media things outside of Killers and some music.

Letoya didn’t get any major endorsement deals, whether if it’s from a popular food place, a popular drink, or some popular form of makeup. I wouldn’t know about using any popular makeup because I’m a male, but I don’t recall seeing Letoya on those commercials about Loreal, which I guess is very popular among women. It’s certainly more known than AJ Crimson Makeup. No offense to the deceased AJ Crimson. Letoya had not even been on the cover of any well known magazines as a solo artist. Kontrol Magazine and King Magazine aren’t hugely known.
- Her 3rd solo album, ‘Back to Life’, happened 8 years after her 2nd album

The large gap in years between those albums would be due to her 2nd album underperforming, considering that Capitol Records did not produce her 3rd solo album. An Indie company called eOne produced that album.
- If she ever releases a 4th solo album, there will be an even longer gap between that and her 3rd album than her 3rd and 2nd album.
It’s a shame that she’s not in huge demand by any music producers.
- She received a part on a TV show, only to get replaced
Some years back, Letoya received a part on the Fox show called Our Kind of People. She later lost the part to Nadine Ellis. I guess the judges at the audition later thought that Nadine acted better in the audition. That’s more reasonable than the claim that Letoya lost the part because she bragged on social media about getting the part.
- Letoya was offered to play as Dionne Warwick in a biography. Letoya never played the part.

How can one person have that much bad luck?
- Her bad luck in relationships

Slim Thug, one of Letoya’s Exes
As some people online had already stated, Letoya had been in 3 marriages in 8 years, and had failed relationships with musicians, athletes, and businessmen. While this could be another form of bad luck, it’s possible that Letoya might have some deep issues that she never admitted in any interviews. Her being homeless after getting kicked out of Destiny’s Child could of been a big contributor to the possible issues that she has. Who can remain normal after going through what she been through?
- She rarely ever worked with any people that were major players in entertainment
Name 10 major players in entertainment that Letoya had worked with. If you can’t, then I don’t blame you. This would count as a form of bad luck in the entertainment industry. While talent had got many people very far in entertainment, not everyone that received a bunch of major opportunities in entertainment got those opportunities through talent. Being great friends with the right people, being related to the right people, and dating the right people can get someone far in the entertainment business. Letoya didn’t have any of those benefits. She was in a relationship with the big rapper T.I., but T.I. wasn’t a very big star at the time that Letoya and him were dating. The biggest name in Hollywood that Letoya had worked with is Tyler Perry, but Letoya wasn’t involved in any of Perry’s movies. The T.V. drama called Divorced Sistas is the only Perry project where Letoya is playing a major role.
- She never became big as a model

Letoya had modeled on a number of things, but she never got big from modeling. That’s very hard to believe.
Well, those are all the reasons why Letoya had more bad luck than any other entertainer. I remember reading a comment several years ago where someone stated that Letoya’s projects seem to come off as cursed. Years after reading that comment, I completely understand why that person made that comment. Maybe Letoya is cursed. Whether if it’s that or just very unfortunate cases of bad luck, we’ll never know. At least she’s not homeless anymore. To the random visitors that read my articles, enjoy the rest of the year. The End.
