Scaler Academy: my honest review

I don’t usually write long posts like this, but I know how confusing and discouraging career decisions can be when you are just starting out, that too especially in tech, where so much money is invested without any job guarantee.

Many people have asked me about Scaler since I have been a part of the program. So, this is my honest Scaler Academy review where I’ll try to share all of my experience and hope it comes in help!

My Journey from the Beginning

I was born and brought up in Navi Mumbai. Things were going fairly smoothly for a while, and then life threw a few challenges our way. As a family, we had to adapt quickly, and stability became the focus for some time. During this phase, I concentrated on completing my education and eventually graduated with a B.Sc. degree in 2018.

Once college was done, it felt right to step in and support wherever I could. That experience taught me responsibility and patience, but somewhere deep down, I knew… this wasn’t for me. I respected the effort it took, but I also felt the urge to try something different and build a career where I could grow and challenge myself.

I knew that I would be particularly good at tech roles, as during my degree, all the assignments and projects seemed fun to me. And so, I took a risk and started my IT career as a Support Engineer at Skillet Solutions with a 2.75 LPA salary.

That role gave me much exposure to production environments, but it also made me realise something. I did not want to just support systems. I wanted to build them. I spent many late nights learning and practicing. Eventually, my efforts paid off when I got an opportunity at Moneycontrol as an SDE-2 with 15 LPA. This was a huge leap for me, but even then, I felt that my fundamentals were not strong enough to go for higher-up roles.

Just like anyone, I gave MULTIPLE interviews, but all of them seemed intimidating and unpredictable. I was confident that if I had learnt something, then I would remember it really well, but the problem was that I didn’t prepare in a way that was required by companies. And honestly, YouTube could only teach so much. I was glad it had SOME resources to rely on to begin with.

And when I was hoping to find a bunch of resources to help me, I came across Scaler. Not gonna lie, I thought it would be just like any other courses that teach and leave you be, but surprisingly, their curriculum made sense, and placement support looked promising. So I decided to take ANOTHER risk!

I only took a leap on this one as they had a refund policy up to 14 days, so I thought it would be a good way to see if the course is benefiting me in any way or not. And since I joined, all I ever did was PRACTICE. The TAs were on point with that; they said all this technical stuff can be taught at once, but we had to practice it enough just to get natural at it.

The curriculum moved at the pace they had mentioned, and it covered basically everything I was searching for at different places, and I am glad I got it all in one place. The classes were operated to force consistency, and I’m so thankful for that.

Now talking about Mentorship, I am glad I had instructors like Naman Bhalla, who changed the way I approached problems. As a matter of fact, Subham Soni has been my mentor since 2022, and I can never forget the kind of support I have gotten throughout my journey. Over time, our interaction became more casual. Even today, he is just a text away whenever I need guidance or a second opinion. That kind of continued support made the learning experience feel more personal and reassuring. The scheduled mock interviews and regular feedback also played a key role in reducing interview anxiety and helped me communicate my ideas more confidently.

They provided solutions to all the problems I was facing, along with step-by-step guidance as to how to approach the same problem in a number of ways. I believe this diversified perspective is what helped me better at analysis overall. My Journey From 2.75 LPA to 50+ LPA

Once I began interviewing again, the results started changing in the best way possible. I received multiple offers from companies like Walmart, CoinDCX, and others. What mattered more to me than the names was the progress I could clearly see in myself.

From starting my career at 2.75 LPA, the journey gradually led to opportunities in the 50+ LPA range over time. Looking back, I feel genuinely happy about the decisions I made. That said, it was not always easy. There were moments when I questioned whether I was making the right choice, whether the investment was worth it, or whether I should have stuck to a more stable and familiar path.

But today, when I reflect on the journey, I see it as a challenging yet deeply rewarding experience. The uncertainty, the effort, and the persistence all came together to shape not just my career but also my confidence in the choices I made.

Oh, and yes, for those who wish to know particularly about Scaler. I’ll say go for it if you can dedicate the time and if you can keep up with their pace. Look through their resources and see if you can use them to the fullest.

• The curriculum that they have set up keeps your learning aligned with interview requirements, which is especially helpful for working professionals.
• Mentors and instructors are experts, and they certainly bring industry experience that improves practical understanding.
• Mock interviews, feedback, and community support help in improving confidence and communication skills.
• The learning environment demands discipline and consistency, and by the end of it, you’ll feel like you have worked on every possible tool and problem.

The Aspects Some Might Find Challenging

• The course requires a strong time commitment, and balancing it with a full-time job may require sacrificing personal time.
• The fees may feel high, so do check out their EMI options and see what they provide before signing up, so you can make your budget plans accordingly.
• So, they don’t provide a job guarantee as such, but they do have placement cells and assistance, which helped me at least. So, if you are planning on signing up, then just be updated and always keep communicating with the team regarding placements and opportunities.

So, Is Scaler Academy Worth It?

From my personal experience, the impact of Scaler Academy has been positive for sure. It was challenging, but with the help of mentors, TAs, and their own team, I got back what I had invested.
