Amid Tight National Competition, 29 Students of MAN 1 Yogyakarta Accepted Through SNBP 2026

Yogyakarta, Indonesia — The 2026 Seleksi Nasional Berdasarkan Prestasi (SNBP) once again highlights the intense competition for admission to public universities. Out of 806,242 applicants nationwide, only 189,017 were accepted — approximately 23 percent — while the remaining 617,225 participants did not secure a place through this pathway.
Amid this increasingly selective process, MAN 1 Yogyakarta recorded a notable achievement. Out of 110 nominated students, 29 successfully passed SNBP 2026 and were accepted into various prestigious public universities. The results were officially announced on Tuesday (March 31, 2026) at 15:00 WIB through the SNPMB official website and multiple university sites.
Most of the accepted students were admitted to Universitas Gadjah Mada (16 students), followed by Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (6 students). The rest were distributed across several universities, including:
- Institut Pertanian Bogor: 2 students
- Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta: 2 students
- Universitas Sebelas Maret: 1 student
- UPN Veteran Yogyakarta: 1 student
- Universitas Brawijaya: 1 student
This distribution reflects a wide range of chosen study programs, covering fields such as humanities, arts, education, science, and engineering.
Among the notable achievements were students accepted into competitive programs such as Medicine at Universitas Sebelas Maret, Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering at Universitas Gadjah Mada, as well as strategic programs like Public Policy and Management at UGM and Informatics Engineering at UPN Veteran Yogyakarta. In the arts and cultural fields, students were also admitted to leading programs such as Interior Design and Visual Communication Design at ISI Yogyakarta, as well as Korean and French Language and Culture programs at UGM.
Head of MAN 1 Yogyakarta, Edi Triyanto, S.Ag., S.Pd., M.Pd., stated that the achievement is the result of collective effort among students, teachers, and a well-structured academic guidance system.
“This is the result of a long process. Our students are not only trained to achieve good grades but also guided to build consistency and academic integrity,” he said.
He added that the success of these 29 students reflects the madrasah’s ability to compete in an increasingly competitive national education landscape.
Behind the success, there are also students who have not yet achieved their desired results. Edi emphasized that SNBP is not the only pathway to higher education.
“For those who were not accepted, do not be discouraged. This is not the end. There are still many other pathways such as SNBT and independent admissions. What matters most is to stay motivated and keep trying,” he affirmed. (dee)
“Every process has its own timing. Those who have not succeeded today may be preparing for greater opportunities ahead,” he added.
