The Forbidden Roll — When Desire Wears Chocolate

The Forbidden Roll is one of those rare creations that whisper instead of shout — dark as a moonless night, sweet as a lie whispered too close to the fire. They say that witches once offered it to travelers who dared to knock on their doors during Samhain. A gift… or a trap. Because whoever tasted it claimed to feel its flavor for days — honey, almond, chocolate, and something else that couldn’t be named.

Today, it’s only a dessert. But as it bakes, as the scent of cocoa fills the air, you’ll understand: some recipes are not meant to be innocent.

🍫 The Recipe — A Spell of Chocolate and Almond

Ingredients

For the sponge: 5 eggs • 70g brown sugar • 70g flour • 20g unsweetened cocoa • 1 tsp almond extract • 70g seed or almond oil

For the cream: 250ml milk • 1 egg + 1 yolk • 1 tbsp cornstarch • 2 tbsp cocoa • 60g sugar • 1 tbsp chestnut honey

For the glaze: 80g dark chocolate • toasted almonds

Instructions

Whisk eggs and sugar until pale and fluffy. Add oil, almond extract, flour, and cocoa. Spread the batter onto parchment paper and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 12 minutes. While still warm, roll it gently in the paper and let it cool.

For the filling, cook milk, eggs, honey, cocoa, sugar, and cornstarch over low heat until smooth and thick. Unroll the cake, spread the cream, and roll it again — slowly, like sealing a secret. Cover with melted dark chocolate, sprinkle almonds, and let it rest.

Then slice it thinly, as you would with dangerous truths.
