Nine days in Reșița-Brebu!

How it feels to visit for the first time the Romanian countryside?

Well the greek group definitely gives it a ten out of ten not because we saw some spectacular scenery but because we met dozens of amazing people that made Brebu something more than a pin in the map.

Living in the countryside for nine days might sound scary to some at first (including myself) a bit terrifying and boring. But that’s not the case here. The lovely hotel we stayed at was twenty minutes away from the city of Reșița we did more stuff that we would have ever done in the city.

The first days in Brebu.

One thing I will always remember from this trip is the nature that surrounded us, it was breathtaking to say the least. When you are used to living in the big city full of tall white buildings and the constant sound and smell of the vehicles passing by, you feel overwhelmed and the need to escape this hectic atmosphere. Brebu was our perfect escape, we felt at peace both with the world and our selves, because we got the time to meditate and also get to know a lot of other young people that felt the same need of peace as us. Nevertheless, living in the outskirts of a small city isn’t as bad especially if you have an amazing companion like the Erasmus+ team.

Getting to know each other.

Nine days under the bright sun and the sound of nature felt like heaven on earth. That fact made our experience even better because we got the change to hang around in the big yard with all the participants and we got to know each other even better.

All of our activities were about getting to know each other personally but also learn each others’ culture. It was something spectacular, and also something I never really had the chance to do in Greece.

I have to give extra credit to the weather there because each day was even better than the previous one, it even helped during our activities.

Visiting Reșița

When it was finally the time to visit the city of Reșița everyone was excited. We first went on the headquarters of the Nevo Parudimos organisation that made the Erasmus+ project possible, and we got the chance to learn more about it.

After that we were given time to roam around the city. Reșița used to be an industrial city back in the 18th century and up until 1980s, so the buildings were very imposing and standardized but even that didn’t manage to stop the flowers and the almond trees from blooming, giving a more welcoming feeling to anyone who was visiting for the first time.

Late night talks and campfire

At some point someone had the suggestion to make a campfire and roast marshmallows while telling funny stories and singing random songs. Everyone was on board with this idea. The goal was to find as many logs as possible.

We figured that the best place to find them would be the forest, so when we went on our morning walk, we also to collected a big amount of the logs we were looking for. We also had a lot of help from the staff that worked there so everything was much easier and of course safer.

When the night came we all sat around the big fire and had a lot of fun forgetting every worry we might have had. We just let ourselves be and enjoyed the moment.

In conclusion

Brebu was an interesting place to stay, because we got the chance to meet new people and make unforgettable memories. Every single day we spend in that small village we learned new things that helped make us a better person.
