Answering the Call: Why Obedience Makes the Hard Roads Easier

From resistance to release — the Kingdom truth about walking in what you were created to do.

Watching the shifts in my friend Tim Day’s journey opened my eyes to a deeper reality about God’s timing and our willingness to say “yes.”

I’ve learned something powerful watching Tim’s life over the years. He’s the kind of man who could walk into a room and own it — a corporate six-figure career, a thriving side hustle in network marketing, and sales skills that could make even the most reluctant buyer say “yes.”

Then came the detours — a divorce, the noise of dissonance, the kind of setbacks that shake your confidence. But here’s what’s wild: seeds of his calling were planted even in the middle of all that chaos. Without realizing it, Tim began sharing ministry nuggets on YouTube. His “business” audience was actually his early congregation.

The Fine Tuning of Obedience

I’ve come to see that the longer we run from our calling, the more God allows life to “fine tune” us. Sometimes the fine tuning feels like loss. Sometimes it looks like we’re being stripped of our platforms. But in reality, we’re being positioned.

Obedience doesn’t mean the road gets easier overnight — but it does mean the weight gets lighter. When you finally say “yes” to God, you exchange the pressure of self-made success for the peace of Spirit-led steps.

I’ve seen it over and over: God is far more concerned with the shaping of your character than the speed of your success.

When Life Throws “This and That” at You

Maybe you’ve been there — a season where it feels like the enemy is pulling every lever, life is unpredictable, and you’re constantly bracing for the next hit.

What if those “this and that” moments aren’t distractions, but divine disruptions? What if they’re God’s way of making sure you’re aligned, ready, and able to handle the very thing you’ve been called to do?

The truth is, answering the call doesn’t guarantee the absence of storms — it guarantees the presence of peace in them.

When you’re walking in obedience:

• Clarity comes quicker.
• Decisions feel lighter.
• Resources flow more naturally.
• And most of all, you stop wasting energy on what was never meant for you.

The Ease of the Yes

The biggest lie the enemy whispers is that obedience will cost you too much. The truth? Disobedience costs far more.

When you finally surrender to the call, you step into a rhythm of grace. It doesn’t mean there’s no work — it means you’re no longer rowing against the current.

Every day, God is still asking His people to step into what they were created to do. And every day, we have a choice: keep running, or lean in.

I’ve seen what happens when someone finally stops running. Doors open. Healing accelerates. Relationships restore. And what once felt impossible suddenly becomes inevitable.
