Claudie let out a scandalous laugh and Sal looked at her with surprise. She understood. Her demeanor was usually so demure, that when the laugh came out it even surprised her — though she knew it lived inside of her. But she had no choice but to laugh at the situation that had unfolded over the course of the evening.

“So maybe this was supposed to happen, I was just telling Sal this was serendipity,” she said, looking at him with a soft smile.

Clementine looked at her with her dazzling eyes and Claudie saw the way Nicky looked at her. It was definitely serendipity that the elevator had gotten stuck with the two of them, leaving her and Sal to meet on the rooftop.

“You might be right!” Clementine’s laugh was equally as vivacious as hers.

Clementine could not believe how lovely Claudie was. Her hair was red like hers, but she was otherwise so different from her. Elegant and cosmopolitan and until that decadent laugh, Clementine was nervous to say anything in front of such a lady.

The way Sal looked at Claudie mirrored how she felt and then some. If there was such a thing as love at first sight, it clearly had happened to Sal and Claudie she wanted to believe.

“Everything happens for a reason, why don’t we all enjoy this hot night a little more since we are finally on the roof?” Nicky squeezed her hand and Sal took Claudie’s.

The four of them walked toward the moonlight.
