“The Room of Uncertainty”

She entered that room. The room of ‘uncertainty’. The very room she was afraid of looking into for the longest time.

The air felt thick, like the brewing emotions and echoes of conditioned thoughts she contained within. Inside the room stood that particular door, with paint chipping off and cracks all over. Of course, it had been chained with a ridiculous number of locks, as if it were a dramatic warning, to fear exploring what lay beyond.

An unfolding awareness. A slow realization.

It came to her gradually, like the illuminating sky of dawn.

She had been chasing the same feeling, the feeling of certainty, where things didn’t require her to be vulnerable.

Where she felt safe, although it was limiting.

Where she was able to predict all her outcomes and ‘feel in control’.

Until the realization hit. Like fog lifting, layer by layer. Things were starting to become clearer over time, slowly but surely.

Was chasing this feeling really sensible in every case? Was it contributing to growth? To gaining new experiences, awareness, and lessons? To evolve and mature as a person in life?

Definitely not. It had been giving her a sense of control, which turned out to be an illusion. Allowed her to feel safe from the unknown, even when it was draining. Nothing more than that.

That’s when she decided that she wanted change. She wanted growth, the experiences which came with it, and the insights she would gain along the way.

So, she took a step forward and began her journey.

She undid each lock and unfastened each chain, one by one. Chains of false security, chains of stagnation, chains of instilled irrational fears.

Healed parts of herself which associated vulnerability with danger, and the part of her which quietly expected things to somehow go wrong.

Coated the door with a fresh layer of paint and hope, even when its surface wasn’t perfectly smooth, marked by scratches and small cracks here and there.

And just like that, she finally felt ready to open the door and discover what lay beyond.
