Ramadan and An Animation Video
Time flies so fast, and it is especially true as we are now in the middle point of Ramadan.
I believe that during the month of Ramadan, only good things will fall upon us. Some of them might not be good in the first take, but the underlying effect will generate goodness.
One thing that I noticed, as I was scrolling down my social media, a heap of beneficial videos popped up. They vary from supplementary ibadah or acts of devotion towards Allah that should be multiplied in this holy month to mouth-watering recipes that threaten my state of fasting. It is a unique experience as this will only be possible during the month of Ramadan.
The one video that lingers in my mind is related to Imam Malik. He is a prominent figure both among the Muslims and the non-Muslims. One day, he was giving a lecture as usual in the mosque. He was surrounded by many students who were eager to learn form him. Suddenly, a man came running and shouting “There is a big elephant outside!”. Now, the sighting of an elephant is definitely a rare situation especially in Medina. So, the people all rushed out to get a glimpse of the enormous creature. All of them went out except for a male student and Imam Malik.
Imam Malik was perplexed and asked him “Don’t you want to go outside to see the elephant?”. The man replied with a simple “No”. Then, he was asked as in why did he decide to stay there. The student told Iman Malik that he went there to study and seek knowledge from Imam Malik himself, not to see an elephant.
From this, it is amazing how focused this man is in realizing his goal and to seek knowledge from the person he admires. Even the rare sighting animal didn’t phase him one bit. As humans, there will be a lot of ‘elephants’ trying to distract us from our true intention. It is up to us to build a strong foundation to resist all those distractions and head towards our aim in life, whether through walking, running or even sprinting.
Ramadan Mubarak to all Muslims. May the victory is with us.
