Your old life has died and your new life is hid with Christ in Me. Colossians 3:3

Daily Promises

The moment you placed your faith in Jesus Christ, something miraculous happened — you died to your old self, and your new life became hidden in Him. This verse in Colossians reminds us of the powerful transformation that takes place when we are united with Christ. Your identity is no longer defined by your past, your failures, or even your accomplishments. Instead, your life is now rooted in Jesus, secure and complete in Him.

Dead to the Old, Alive in the New

Before knowing Christ, you were ruled by sin, following the desires of the flesh and the ways of the world. But when you surrendered to Jesus, your old self was crucified with Him (Galatians 2:20). This means the person you used to be — separated from God, enslaved to sin, and destined for death — no longer exists. You have been made new.

Your new life in Christ is now hidden in Him. This speaks of protection, security, and deep unity with Jesus. Just as He is seated at the right hand of the Father, you too are spiritually seated with Him (Ephesians 2:6). You no longer belong to this world; your true life is in the kingdom of God.

What It Means to Be Hidden in Christ

Being hidden in Christ means that your identity is found in Him. You are not defined by your mistakes, your struggles, or even how others see you. Instead, you are defined by what God says about you.

• You are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17).
• You are a child of God (John 1:12).
• You are righteous in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21).
• You are deeply loved (Romans 8:38–39).

Since your life is hidden in Christ, the world cannot fully understand the depth of your transformation. They may still see you as the same person, but inwardly, you have been completely changed. And one day, when Christ appears, your true identity will be fully revealed in glory (Colossians 3:4).

Living in the Reality of Your New Life

Because your old self is dead, you are called to live in the reality of your new identity. This means letting go of the ways of the past and embracing the character of Christ. Colossians 3:5–10 urges believers to put off sinful behaviors and put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge according to the image of its Creator.

Instead of living for the world, set your mind on things above (Colossians 3:2). Let your life reflect the reality of Christ in you. Walk in love, kindness, humility, and holiness, knowing that your true life is secure in Him.

Prayer

Father, thank You that my old life has died and my new life is hidden with Christ in You. Help me walk in this newness daily, reflecting Your truth, holiness, and love.
