Mycelium functions as one of the main Android Bitcoin wallets in the market. This guide serves both mobile phone users who need to fix a bricked device and users who want to handle their funds through Electrum.

The seed phrase backup process starts right after you create a new wallet through Mycelium mobile software. The backup procedure starts by displaying 1 word from Mycelium to the user interface as shown in this example

Writing down the seed phrase enables you to maintain the safety of your funds because you can use it to restore access via any wallet application available.

The first step to retrieve your funds through Electrum requires you to download the application while also conducting signature authentication of the executable.

Upon launching Electrum the program presents two options either to open an existing wallet file or create a new wallet from scratch. Moving forward we will build a new wallet which can be achieved by retaining the default default_wallet option or selecting a different wallet name.

Next we choose to use a Standard Wallet

And finally we choose the ‘I already have a seed’ option

Users type the 12 word seed phrase into the box after which they click Options before checking the BIP39 seed checkbox. A checksum: ok message should appear in the screenshot under optimal conditions according to the process.

Once you import the seed phrase Electrum gives you two different recovery options to use — automatic derivation path scanning or manual derivation path selection. The ‘Detect Existing Accounts’ option serves our need for simplicity because of this reason.

The Electrum software will take sometime before showing discovered accounts from your seed phrase by seeking appropriate derivation paths.

The Electrum program initializes following your decision of an account and reveals your wallet balance.
