Procore Championship winner Scheffler among nominees for Jack Nicklaus Award

Scottie Scheffler, the winner of the Procore Championship at Silverado Resort in Napa in September, is among the nominees for the Jack Nicklaus Award, the PGA Tour announced on Dec. 3.

Those nominated for the Jack Nicklaus Award as the 2025 PGA Tour Player of the Year, according to a press release from PGA Tour Communications, are Tommy Fleetwood, Ben Griffin, Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler.

The nominees for the Jack Nicklaus Award (Player of the Year) and Arnold Palmer Award (Rookie of the Year) for the 2025 season, as finalized by the PGA Tour Player Directors and members of the Player Advisory Council, were announced by the PGA Tour.

The Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year awards are determined by a member vote, with PGA Tour members who played in at least 15 official FedExCup events during the 2025 season eligible to vote, the press release said.

The five nominees for the Arnold Palmer Award as the 2025 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year, as announced by the PGA Tour, are Michael Brennan, Steven Fisk, William Mouw, Aldrich Potgieter and Karl Vilips.

The ballot will open on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 10 a.m. ET, and close on Dec. 12 at 5 p.m. ET. Winners will be announced at a later date.

Scheffler had six wins during the season, recording a Tour-best 17 Top-10s and not missing a cut.

He was the winner of the Byron Nelson Award for low scoring average (68.131).

He finished №1 in the Official World Golf Ranking and tied for fourth in the FedExCup, PGA Tour Communications reported.

Scheffler, of Dallas, Texas, entered 20 events and had additional wins at The CJ CUP Byron Nelson, PGA Championship (third career major championship title), the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday, The Open Championship (fourth career major championship title), and BMW Championship.

“I feel like I did some really good things,” Scheffler said in a pre-tournament press conference transcription, at tee-scripts.com, from the Hero World Challenge, at Albany Golf Course, at Albany, Bahamas, on Dec. 3. “I got off to a bit of a slower start and then I got rolling there towards the middle of the year and was able to win some nice tournaments. I think I was pretty consistent throughout the year, so I think that’s something I would be really proud of is just having consistent finishes week in and week out and then having some wins as well.”

Scheffler’s win at the Procore Championship, played on the North Course at Silverado Resort, was his 19th career PGA Tour victory.

He led the Tour in par-4 scoring average (3.89).

“I think any season which you’re able to win major championships I think is very special, especially being able to win multiple majors,” said Scheffler. “The Open Championship, the Claret Jug is a pretty cool trophy to have in your possession. I think I underestimated what that feels like and I’ve really enjoyed kind of having that at home and being able to celebrate with that.

“The consistency that I played with this year, I’m extremely proud of. I think for me to be able to put in as many top finishes as I did takes a lot of work and takes a lot of energy and focus to be able to do that. So, I was proud of the discipline that I had throughout the season. Not only that discipline, but also staying patient in the beginning of the year when things weren’t going as I’d hoped they would, I was still able to kind of ground out some decent finishes and keep myself in it. And then I started trending and found myself in a really good spot in the middle of the year.”

It was Scheffler’s first appearance at Silverado Resort, where he joined nine other U.S. Ryder Cup players in the field at the Procore Championship, a $6 million event.

It was one of the strongest fields in Silverado Resort’s long, storied history as a PGA Tour stop.

It was Scheffler’s first time winning in his debut at an event on Tour and his first professional win in the state of California.

It marked Scheffler’s second straight season with at least six wins. He moves into a tie for 40th on the all-time wins list with 19; tied with Ben Crenshaw, Ernie Els, Doug Ford, Hubert Green, Tom Kite and Bill Mehlhorn.

In winning the Procore Championship, Scheffler fired rounds of 70, 68, 64 and 67, completing the event at 19-under 269. The North Course is a par-72, 7,138-yard championship layout.

Scheffler went into the final round two shots behind the 54-hole leader, Ben Griffin. It was Scheffler’s fifth career win overcoming at least a two-shot deficit after 54 holes, the Tour reported.

Scheffler hit 9-of-14 fairways and 17-of-18 greens in regulation, and also had 31 putts, in the final round.

He had birdies on Nos. 3, 5, 7, 10, 12 and 15.

Linden Hillenbrand, the Chief Customer Officer for Procore Technologies, presented the tournament trophy to Scheffler on the 18th green. Scheffler was joined at the awards ceremony by his wife, Meredith, and their son, Bennett; Andy McDowell the tournament’s Executive Director; Mike Damaso, Chair, Impact Through Golf Foundation Napa Valley; and Todd Shallan, Vice President and Managing Director at Silverado Resort.

Scheffler, in addition, has finished inside the Top-25 in all 20 starts this season.

The 2025 Procore Championship is the first event of the FedExCup Fall. It’s a group of seven tournaments played after the Tour Championship that finalizes eligibility for the 2026 PGA Tour season.

At the conclusion of the final FedExCup Fall event (the RSM Classic), players inside the top 100 of the FedExCup Fall Points List will secure exempt status for 2026, while players finishing between Nos. 101–150 will have conditional status, the Tour reported.

It’s been a big year for Ben Griffin, who was second at the Procore Championship.

He entered 30 events had had three wins. Those victories were at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, Charles Schwab Challenge, and World Wide Technology Championship.

Griffin finished №9 in the Official World Golf Ranking and tied for 10th in the FedExCup. He finished fourth in scoring average (69.692). He also had 12 top-10 finishes, with six missed cuts.

“I just feel like I’ve grown so much as a player to put myself in the positions I have this season. It stings anytime you don’t win, but it’s not from a lack of effort,” Griffin said following the final round of the Procore Championship, in a transcription, at tee-scripts.com.

Scheffler was making his first start on Tour at the Hero World Challenge since winning the Procore Championship. He tied for fourth place.

The Hero World Challenge, which has a 20-player field, is an unofficial PGA Tour event that is played annually following the FedExCup Fall. It was held at Albany Golf Course, in Albany, Bahamas, Dec. 4–7.
