I.C.E in Minnesota has been a hot topic since December, when President Donald Trump started his crackdown on immigration. Today I got the opinions of UMD students.

Kennedy Lowe: History Anthropology Major
“I don’t feel good about how Minnesota is handling ICE. It makes me feel really unsafe and sad for my friends and family who are being deeply affected by this. I know people with small businesses who have had to shorten operation hours or close completely because their staff is afraid to come to work. I am proud of the community for coming together during this time. I’ve seen a lot of protests and activities happening on campus that make me proud to be a part of the school and this community.” Shared Kennedy.

Sophie Keis: Journalism major
“I think the community response to ICE has been really good and uplifting. Online Ive seen a lot of action being taken with protests and sharing important information. Within the community, I’ve seen some really cool things like people getting groceries for their neighbors and doing ICE watch to make sure they are safe,” shared Sophie.
