Sangh Sanskar: 1. Samay Sarini

“Samay Sarini” or timetable is a unique process in Sangh methodology that inculcates deep understanding, wide collaboration, and a strong commitment to quality.

The mukhya shikshak of the shakha, varga, or utsav usually leads the development of Samay Sarini involving the core team of experts or vishay pramukhs and senior karyakartas. He/she has to understand the requirements and constraints of every aspect of the program and perceive potential conflicts, while developing the timeline. If its a long program with multiple activities, then the program flow and appropriate breaks/gaps are considered, besides assigning precise timeslots for each activity. An inherent part of Samay Sarini development is “scrubbing”, i.e. multiple changes to the activity sequence and time allocation, based on different perspectives and intended outcomes shared by the karyakartas. The final Samay Sarini has to achieve an optimal qualitative balance between the available time and the desired impact/”vyakti nirman” through the program. In the process, the mukhya shikshak is also inculcating valuable “sanskar” of collaboration, consensus, and commitment and honing leadership qualities.

Despite best efforts, a Samay Sarini may not be perfect, but still necessary for the program’s smooth execution and sufficient for the intended outcomes. A good mukhya shikshak always utilizes the opportunity to self-reflect and seek feedback from others to continue learning and improving…
