We Are Space

…Can you allow your world to dissolve again and again and again?

It is very different. Not leaving a mark. Not leaving a trace. Not achieving anything. The ground nature is space. You are space. A lot of things happen in space.

What did you do today? Nothing. A lot happened but you didn’t do anything. Even when you do something, who is the doer of the deed?

Energy is the doer of the deed. Whose energy is it? Mine. But I I didn’t do it. The energy is naturally occuring or self-arising. This is lhündrup. The effortless display out of emptiness. Out of emptiness but within emptiness. Unborn. The ceaseless flow of unborn experience

Knowledge of a deep self-center and source of inner guidance has been known throughout time. However, for our lives to grow from within the fears of the ego must be faced and its spell must be broken. For, the greater the distance between the little-self and the deep self within us, the more anxiety and fear we feel.

In order to avoid overwhelm and find meaningful life paths, we must tap the deep resources of our self and soul which connect us to the timeless roots of imagination and to the endless energies of creation.

Despite the troubles they cause, critical turning points in life intend to change us from within, giving us access to imagination and wisdom from the deeper self while also learning to deliver something of our true self to a troubled world.

Where does the desire to do something come from? If it comes from a desire to be something, be visible and be seen as worthy and important, we might say it comes from ego. But there does seem to be an inborn, innate urge to realize something specific with our lives that has nothing to do with identity or self image. What is that?

That’s an interesting phrase, “deliver something of our true self to the world. “ And yes, the world is troubled. We are living in troubled times. It’s not hard to imagine that the world needs us to develop and give our gifts to it. Thinking we’re not worthy of such a task is as false as puffing ourselves up and pretending to be impressive.

Acting in the world without taking on a role or identity is acting without the actor. The universe acts and accomplishes without the faintest egoism. It never admires itself in the mirror, at least as far as we know. We, on the other hand, get tangled up in self regard and self image. Our philosophies and religions somehow haven’t been able to get us beyond our fascination with the person in the mirror.

Our qualities can be converted in a trice to a self portrait, positive or negative. We are pursued by the harpies of self image from morning to night, never realizing how fictitious it all is and how we are using things about ourselves to raise or lower our value in our minds. Underneath this game is a suspicion that we are not an identity at all but rather a conduit of energies trying to get into the world.

The idea that we are a definite and identifiable, nameable personage contradicts the facts of birth and death. The idea that we are ephemeral, very temporary beings who appear and disappear, like waves in the ocean, is not easy to accept.

We believe in our solidity, quantum realities notwithstanding. Our dramas are real to us. Praise and blame raise us up or cast us down. We take our comedies and tragedies as actual. On the level of heart and soul, something is definitely happening, but we may not realize it because our vision of ourselves is personal and local. We are larger than we think.
