Samsung Washer Stuck on 7 or 9 Minutes? How to Fix Ub & Ur Spin Errors

It’s a frustratingly common laundry scenario: You check on your Samsung washer, and the timer is stuck at 7 or 9 minutes. The drum spins a little, stops, adds more time, and eventually flashes a Ub or Ur error code.

As a technician, I see this all the time. Homeowners often panic, thinking the motor is burned out. But here is the good news: 90% of the time, your washer isn’t broken. It’s just trapped in an unbalanced loop.

Here is exactly how to decode these codes and fix the vibration at home.

What Do Ub and Ur Actually Mean?

These aren’t hardware failures; they are safety alerts.

• Ur (Unbalanced Recovery): The washer senses that the clothes are heavily clumped on one side. It will automatically add water to try to spread them out.
• Ub (Unbalanced Load): The machine has officially given up trying to fix it alone. It stops the cycle completely and needs you to manually rearrange the laundry.

Step 1: Break the Single Item Trap

The biggest trigger for a Ub error is washing one heavy item, like a single bath mat, a heavy blanket, or a thick hoodie. When the drum spins at high speed, that one wet, heavy item slams against the side, throwing the machine off balance.

• The Fix: Always balance the load. If you are washing a heavy bath mat, throw in a couple of towels to distribute the weight evenly around the drum.

Step 2: The 2026 AI Calibration Hack

Modern Samsung washers use high-tech sensors to calculate weight and torque. Sometimes, after a violent shaking event, these sensors lose their “zero point” and trigger ghost errors.

• How to Recalibrate: Empty the drum and turn the machine ON. Press and hold the Temp and Delay End buttons together for 3 seconds until you see Cb or CLB on the screen. Press Start. The drum will spin for 2–3 minutes to reset its internal weight sensors.

Step 3: The Rock Test for Leveling

An uneven machine will destroy its own suspension over time. Walk up to your washer and press down firmly on all four corners. If the machine rocks even a tiny bit, the legs are uneven. Use a wrench to adjust the bottom feet until it is rock solid against the floor.
