Read our article on urban regeneration here.

Rapid and unplanned urbanization has led to degraded urban areas creating key challenges and opportunities for society and capital to create the next evolution of cohabitation. The legacy development toolkit has proven incapable of providing large scale comprehensive solutions to these wicked problem. We inherently know human and urban development investments create great economic value for society. By identifying, managing, and communicating this previously unknown value of the combination of the two we can design and develop sustained value across the full spectrum of Urban Regeneration.

Ecotone in Action, Rebuilding Together DCA Case Study:

View our case study for Rebuilding Together DCA here.

Rebuilding Together DC — Alexandria, USA (“Rebuilding Together DCA”) provides home repairs and modifications at no-cost to homeowners. Its Safe and Healthy Homes program addresses home and safety health hazards, leveraging the 25 Safe and Healthy Priorities and the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Healthy Home Rating System to improve homeowners’ living conditions and quality of life.

We developed an impact overview and a social return on investment (SROI) figure to illustrate the overall theory of change, understand the range of activities included, and identify the outcomes generated by Rebuilding Together DCA’s home repair and modification activities supporting urban regeneration. We then projected the value of Rebuilding Together DCA’s home repair work and to whom the benefits accrue. This analysis helped Rebuilding Together understand, better measure and communicate the value of its work and improve fundraising strategies.
