Makerville Town Hall Meeting tonight @9:00PM Central (live stream)

Hello fine inhabitants of Makerville, and any tourists out there!

Tonight’s town hall meeting will be an exciting grassroots effort to start adding to the population of our town. All of our newest additions to the town will have an opportunity to request their personal avatar for the town — custom built to the specs below!

All members of the Makerville population (subscribers) get their own avatar at a scale of 1 voxel = 6" (half a foot, 15.24 cm). This avatar can vary in size up to 12 voxels (6 feet tall) and follow the rough sizing displayed in the picture above. Request can include the following customizations:

Skin colorClothing color and choice (shirt, no shirt, dress, pants, shorts, etc) — must be kid-friendly choicesEye colorHair style and colorMinor adjustments to head size and/or features (like a visible nose or not)Shoe color (or no shoes)Body style (within reasonable humanoid limits)

Characters can be smaller than 12 voxels, but results may vary based on available voxel space. Join the Town Hall Meeting tonight to get your request on stream, or see below on making off-screen requests!

For the artists out there, you can supply your own drawing to be voxelized — including supplying a color palette in .ase format!

Town Support Center

We have a new Town Support Center specifically for suggestions and population requests. Submit your request for your avatar there so you can follow progress and supply necessary information to get it done right!

Makerville Town Proper (redux)

We learned a few things with the initial ground-breaking of Makerville. Of most importance was that the initial sizing of Makerville just didn’t fit our populations needs. Our land plots could not accommodate a nice enough looking town proper, and so, we’ve resized! We have up-scaled to using a 6x6x6" voxel scale, and have made our town tiles 16x16x16 voxels.

This update requires a re-ground breaking, and we’ll be plotting some new land tonight! We will also be attempting to built our town withing an amazing tool called RPG-in-a-box which is a voxel-based RPG building tool that basically has EVERYTHING you need to build an RPG — including it’s only scripting language, voxel building tools, map making tools, sound making tools, TOOLS making TOOLS (well, maybe not that..).

There will be some new rules in how our town is built during our streams using your Maker Blocks.

There will be lower-cost unlimited placement options for tiles that already exist for the town!That will make it easier to add land, sidewalks, and other blocks quickly with your Maker BlocksCustom-built town and landscape elements will cost more Maker Blocks, and retain a limit per stream:Small Items: 2 per stream (each type)Medium Items: 1 per streamLarge Items: 1 per stream (and very high cost)
