When I started writing erotica, I became fascinated with stories about ghost sex. I’ve always loved ghost stories in general, but I blame The Amityville Horror for the direction my fiction has taken. To me, paranormal erotica has the best type of fantasy — a combination of sexy and scary that’s as engaging as it is erotic.
Well, if I’m doing my job it ends up that way.
And it’s pure fiction. At least that I know of. While some people claim to have had sex with a ghost, I cannot prove or disprove their stories.
However, when it comes to the question of whether or not ghosts have sex, Mary Marshall, an intuitive medium and paranormal investigator, has a definite answer: No, they don’t.
Well, there goes half my catalog!
In the video “Do Ghosts Watch Us Have Sex? & Do They Have Sex with Each Other?” on her YouTube channel, Marshall explains ghosts having sex with each other this way: “Sex requires a body, physical, and they don’t have one. Potentially, can they go through the motions? They certainly could go through the motions, but it would reach them in a different way. Our level of satisfaction or reaching the Big O is not going to happen. This would have to be because that’s a physical body thing.”

Most people just aren’t interested in what the undead do in bed — unless they have a fetish known as spectrophilia, which is a sexual attraction to ghosts. However, people may want to know if ghosts can see them having sex. If you’re worried about your deceased loved ones witnessing you getting it on with your partner, or even masturbating, Marshall has bad news for you: They can. The good news is, they don’t really want to, and their perception of you will be different now that they’re on the other side.
“If grandma passed away, the last thing you want to do is see grandma naked coming out of the shower at your house. Nobody wants to see grandma naked. The same thing applies for us; they really don’t want to see us that way,” said Marshall. “With that being said, they see us differently. They are a pure source of energy, so when they look at us, it is the same way. They’re looking at us in complete energy form.”
