“From Crisis Response to Socio-Economic Resilience, Japan Is Redefining Global Migration Leadership” — Amy Pope Chief of International Organization for Migration

While attending the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), 20–22 August 2025 in Japan, admired Japan’s work on Migration & Socio-Economic Resilience.

Like other countries and regions, to improve relationship with the African continent ‘Tokyo International Conference on African Development’ was started in 1993.

Elaborating internal situation of migration in Africa, africacenter.org/spotlight/migration-trends-2025/ published,

“About 70 percent of the migration flows across West and Central Africa involve temporary, seasonal, and permanent migration of workers, with economic hubs such as Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, and Nigeria the key destinations.

Côte d’Ivoire, illustratively, hosts more than 8 million migrants.”

At the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development , Amy Pope added in her speech,

“Japan’s partnership with IOM extends well beyond financial contributions, reflecting shared values and a commitment to dignity, resilience, and opportunity for people on the move.”

Migration has been a repetitive overtone in international so also local politics.

Like other issues such as people moving from rural areas to cities, migration has both advantages and disadvantages.

Migration and immigration produces innovators, political commanders and leaders of multinational companies from first or second generation of outsiders.

In case of national and international politicians, ‘migration’ is a more political gimmick than solving the problem on the basis of legitimacy and out of benevolence.

On the ground level, sme people who are ignorant, aggressive, savage, ‘migration’ is an excuse for their rough and philistine mannerism.

Thus, migration & socio-economic resilience needed to be part of education from primary school to legislative assemblies and parliaments.
