The Platform That Almost Didn’t Get Built And Why I’m Glad It Did

Working at Pixel Comet taught me something about the film industry nobody talks about.

I didn’t expect this job to change the way I see the world. But it did.

I’m Victoria, Client Partnership Manager at Pixel Comet, a global independent film distribution platform. My job is to find filmmakers, listen to their stories, and help them get their work seen by audiences worldwide.

And in just a few weeks of doing this, I’ve heard the same story over and over again.

A filmmaker spends years making something extraordinary.

Festival wins. Critical praise. Real, genuine work that moves people.

And then — nothing.

Not because the film wasn’t good enough. Because the system wasn’t built for them. No agent. No connections. No studio backing. No way in.

These are the things the industry tells creators who don’t fit the mold.

And most of them believe it. So they give up.
