WHEN GOD CHANGED MY PACE

There was a time I thought every delay meant I was falling behind.

I measured my life against timelines.

Against birthdays.

Against promotions.

Against the people who seemed to be arriving at destinations I had only written in my journal.

Every new year came with another list.

Another vision board.

Another promise to myself that this would be the year everything finally made sense.

Sometimes it did.

Most times, it didn't.

And I couldn't understand why.

I watched people relocate.

I watched careers take off.

I watched friendships blossom.

I watched dreams come true.

Meanwhile, I kept asking God one question:

"When will it be my turn?"

Then, quietly, He began changing my pace.

Not by giving me everything I prayed for.

But by changing the way I walked.

I used to think growth was running faster.

Now I know it is walking with God.

I used to think success was arriving first.

Now I know success is arriving where God wants me to be.

This year has looked nothing like I imagined.

There were prayers I thought would already be answered.

Jobs I thought I would have.

Places I thought I would already be.

People I thought would still be in my life.

Yet somehow...

I have more peace than I did when I was chasing timelines.

Because somewhere along the journey, I stopped asking God to help me catch up.

I started asking Him to teach me how to walk with Him.

That changed everything.

Now, I celebrate other people's victories without questioning my own story.

I apply for opportunities without letting rejection define me.

I keep learning.

I keep writing.

I keep showing up.

Not because I know exactly where I am going.

But because I know who is leading me.

Maybe that is what changing pace really means.

Not walking slower.

Not walking faster.

Just refusing to walk without God.

If there is one thing this season has taught me, it is this:

God is never late.

And because He is never late...

Neither am I.

So I am learning to stop racing the clock.

I am learning to enjoy becoming.

Because every step, every delay, every closed door, and every unexpected turn has been shaping someone I couldn't have become any other way.

Maybe God's greatest gift wasn't speeding up my journey.

Maybe it was slowing me down long enough to recognize that He had been walking beside me all along.

And if He is the One setting the pace...

Then I have nothing to fear.
