Vertical video stopped looking like an experimental format this week and started behaving like a full industry layer.
Within days, Amazon Prime Video joined Netflix and Disney+ in launching a vertical feed, while Banijay, Fremantle, and All3Media quietly entered the space through newly launched studio RoseBerry Media.
At the same time, Hollywood saw its first peer-jury awards dedicated entirely to vertical drama, and ABFF introduced a dedicated 9:16 microdrama showcase.
These moves may look disconnected on the surface, but together they point to a structural shift happening much faster than most of the traditional industry expected.
