She met the pianist and the singer the day before they were playing at the jazz club, the introductions were brief and inconclusive. The singer passed the pianist the sheets of music for the songs she was singing for her husband the next day. She said “Nice to meet you, and can you play this song music?” The pianist read the music through a few times. Sat down at the piano, and in the empty club played the refrain very slowly, too slowly for the human voice, and with additional random chords. The singer smiled at her… We’ll get better.
