Faith, Purpose, and Prosperity: A Rainy-Day Reminder to Be Thankful

How a simple drive, worship music, and a grateful heart reminded me that God is still working behind the scenes

Today was a little different than many of my recent days. I didn’t have any Vinted sales to ship, so there was no trip to the post office. Instead, I had a few other errands to run, and as I headed out, a gentle rain was falling. It wasn’t a heavy storm, just enough rain to create a peaceful atmosphere as I drove from place to place.

As I traveled, I had Elevation Worship music playing through Amazon Music on my phone. I found myself singing along and thanking God for everything He has been doing in my life and in my family. The more I worshiped, the more a deep sense of gratitude began to flow over me. It became one of those moments when you realize just how much God has been working, even in ways easy to overlook amid the busyness of everyday life.

Looking Back at God’s Faithfulness

While driving, I reflected on how much has changed over the past several months. I thought about the ways God has been improving our financial situation and restoring family relationships. I thought about the growth He has brought into my spiritual life and the many lessons He has taught me through both challenges and blessings. It reminded me once again that God is always in control, and He always has a plan and a purpose for His children.

Those thoughts naturally brought me back to the new logo for my business: Faith, Purpose, and Prosperity. Those three words are more than just a slogan to me. They represent the values that I want to guide every area of my life. As I reflected on each word, I realized how closely they connect to the journey God has me on right now.

Faith is at the center of everything. It is the foundation of my family, my work, and the decisions I make each day. Without faith, it would be easy to become discouraged when progress feels slow or when circumstances don’t make sense. Faith reminds me that God’s promises are still true, even when I cannot yet see the outcome.

Living with Purpose Every Day

Purpose is another word that carries a lot of meaning for me. I believe one of the purposes God has given me is to encourage others. Whether that happens through my writing on Medium, my videos on YouTube, or my social media posts, my goal is to share hope and encouragement with people who may need it.

I am thankful that God continues to open doors for me to grow my YouTube channel and connect with others through social media. Every article, video, and post is an opportunity to share something that might help someone else keep moving forward. Even when growth seems slow, I remind myself that faithfulness matters more than numbers. If one person is encouraged, then the effort was worthwhile.

As I followed my familiar routes during my errands, I realized how much easier it is to reflect when you are traveling roads you know well. My attention was still on driving safely, but because I knew where I was going, my mind had room to think, pray, worship, and reflect. It became a beautiful moment of gratitude in the middle of an ordinary day.

Cultivating a Lifestyle of Thanksgiving

One of the strongest thoughts that came to me during that drive was how important it is to intentionally cultivate thankfulness. Gratitude does not happen automatically. If we’re not careful, it becomes very easy to focus on what we don’t have, what hasn’t happened yet, or why God hasn’t answered a particular prayer the way we expected.

We can easily fall into thoughts such as, “Why is this taking so long?” or “Why isn’t anything changing?” Those negative thought patterns can quickly become a trap. God wants us to be people who continually thank Him, even while we are waiting. We need to remember that we are still alive, we still have a purpose, and God is still working.

The older I get, the more I recognize how important this mindset really is. The way we think affects every area of our lives. If we focus only on everything that is wrong, those thoughts can lead us further down a path of discouragement and defeat. They can rob us of our joy, our motivation, and even our productivity.

I am not someone who promotes the power of positive thinking. Instead, I believe in the power of God’s Word actively working in our lives. When negative thoughts begin to take over, they pull my attention away from God’s promises. They pull me away from His truth and from the confidence He wants me to have as His child.

When I stay focused on those negative thoughts, I can become stagnant. I become less productive and less motivated because discouragement starts telling me that nothing will ever work out. That is not how God calls us to live. He calls us to renew our minds, meditate on His Word, and remember who we are in Christ.

As believers, we need to continually remind ourselves that God has a purpose for our lives. As long as we are still here and God has not called us home to heaven, there is still work for us to do. There are still people to encourage, lessons to learn, and opportunities to serve. We cannot give up because God’s plan for our lives is not finished.

That rainy drive reminded me that gratitude is something we must intentionally practice. The more we focus on God’s goodness, the easier it becomes to see His hand at work. The more we thank Him, the more we recognize that He has been faithful all along.

What is something you do to remind yourself of all the things you have to be thankful for in your life?
