AEW Dynamite — 7/10/2024 Recap

HI GUYS!

I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist. Once you see the recap, I think you’ll give me a pass for invoking Jericho.

Overall, Dynamite was good this week. I think tonight was an example that AEW can produce long-term story telling. I know the detractors won’t agree to whatever I say, so I’m not going to bother wasting my breath.

• Danielson Wins. Good match - it wasn't the ending I would have hoped for Jarrett didn't fast count as much of a pud that he is.

• Holding a grudge from last time - “We’retwo different points in the career”- Swerve on the way up and Daniel on the way out

• How is Jericho 50 and doing a death match? I hate to say it, but he looks good

• Nigel being hilarious
• Beating each other good - although a little slow objectively
• Make it to the back - Big Bill comes out and lays out Joe
• Bryan Keith joins in - Jericho gets his belt with a buckle
• Redwood chokeslam on a pallet and forklift
• Jericho uses the forklift
• Drives him through drywall pretty corny but safety is a priority
• Doctor stoppage and Jericho wins

Four Way Match: Kyle Fletcher, Claudio C, Pac, Ishi

• Don Callis on the headset
• Good match
• Crowd is into it
• Crazy pac leg drop onto Fletcher while in CC sharp shooter, Pac applies cross face while CC still has the Sharpshooter applied, Ishi stops Claudio
• They are just beating the crap out each other
• Ishi almost ends Fletcher, crazy kickout
• Rounds of german suplex for everyone
• Claudio waste time outside as Pac hits a corkscrew and a cross face
• Pac wins
• Great match

• Thanks the EVPs for the extra security tonight because she will not be interrupted

• Britt Baker comes out - and CEO takes off through the crowd

• Allin calls out Darby Allin - he's just getting started on the elite

Owen Hart Women's Final : Mariah vs Willow

• Mariah May comes out with Toni and Luther
• Willow wearing a tribute to Owen singlet
• Willow started strong, Mariah kinda came back
• Double interference - Stokley and Kris - Toni distracted the ref
• Mariah wins with a rollup (not directly related to the interference — there were a few good kickouts from both ladies)
• Celebrating with Toni Storm
• Grabs the Owen belt at the top of the entrance ramp and clocks Toni Storm and beats her with it
• Clocks Luther Luther and he goes through the table
• WATCH FOR THE SHOE!!!!!!
• Toni gets the absolute crap beat out of her by Mariah and the shoe
• Mariah Knocked out Aubrey Edwards
• End of show

What can I say. The ending of the show was about as good as it could have been. This is the most memorable ending for AEW TV programming in some time (my memory is terrible so don’t hold me to this). I think AEW is starting to get better at developing meaninful storylines. And tonight they didn’t march out local talent just to beef up their protected guys’ records.

I’m a little too tired to write much today. I’m not even going to spell check or grammar check. I will be back Saturday or Sunday with Smackdown and Rampage.
