Overview

For our AI for Good article today, we wanted to do something a little different in the midst of all the political situations that are happening here in the U.S. There is a lot of fear, commotion, confusion, anger, and sadness.

Now let us make this very clear: although AI is a powerful tool, it can only make impactful and meaningful change depending on how we use it and how we implement it.

The motto of Los Necios is simple — AI should empower individuals and teams, not replace them. And now more than ever, we know that there are brilliant, grounded experts in their fields who are using AI in ethical, responsible, and deeply meaningful ways to support real people.

With this in mind, we want to talk about how AI can help immigrants in their daily struggles. We’ll spotlight two categories of nonprofits:

• Those using AI directly to assist immigrant communities, and
• Those doing critical work on the ground and are worthy of your support

Areas Where AI Can Help

Overcoming Language Barriers

Language is one of the first and hardest barriers immigrants face. AI-powered translation tools — like Google Translate, Microsoft Translator, or newer apps that use machine learning — are giving people access to communication they never had before.

Some nonprofits use AI to match immigrants with real-time human translators, ensuring better cultural and linguistic nuance. AI can’t replace human empathy, but it can bridge gaps and open doors.
