what the internet knows

i have never actually given it a thought, to think how much exposed i am, my data, my privacy, all exposed, no regualtion. i figured it was okay since its what everyone is doing. Then I searched myself.

Not the version I know. The version the internet assembled.

A map of places I’ve been. Apps I forgot existed still tracking me. Profiles built from clicks, pauses, purchases, searches. Fragments of me sold as certainty.

What surprised me wasn’t that my data existed. It was how complete the picture looked and how incomplete it actually was.

i saw my childhood facebook account with my pictures but i don’t have access to the account anymore, i found pictures of me that i didn’t know existed on the internet then i realized how much information i had actually let out.

The internet knew my habits, but not my intentions. My location, but not my story. My patterns, but not my values.

And for the first time, I actually felt exposed.

Not hacked. Not watched in some dramatic way.

Just quietly observed for years without really questioning it.

Somewhere along the way, privacy became something we traded for convenience so often that we stopped noticing the exchange.

That’s why encrypted computation matters.

Because maybe the future shouldn’t require exposing yourself just to participate in it. Maybe data can be useful without being vulnerable. Maybe control should belong to the person, not the platform.

What I found online wasn’t fully me.

Just a version of me revealed from observation.
